Kim Basinger is turning 64 today; she is today’s WTHH birthday, and most of her career is summarized in that article, so we’ll just hit the high points. After a number of TV movies and guest appearances in the seventies, Basinger became a prominent film actress in the 1980s. She was a Bond Girl (non-canonical) in Never Say Never Again, was a Golden Globe nominee in The Natural, starred in films like 9½ Weeks and No Mercy, and capped the decade by playing Vicky Vale in Batman. After that her star faded, although she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar as Lynn Bracken in L.A. Confidential. Her most recent film role was as Elena Lincoln in Fifty Shades Darker.

During this time, Basinger started up a very public affair with the pop star, Prince. Prince was recording music for the Batman soundtrack. The Prince/Basinger pairing was the stuff of urban legend. Reportedly, Basinger was under some kind of spell. The story goes that Basinger’s family, concerned for her well-being, whisked Basinger away from Prince’s house.

That may seem silly. Prince is a little guy. It’s hard to imagine that Basinger was in any real jeopardy. However, before you rush to judgement, take into consideration that Basinger and Prince recorded an album (appropraitely titled Hollywood Affair) which was never released.

You know what, fuck Kim Basinger. Her Prince association aside, she's a nasty woman and it's well documented.

While no one is 100% at fault or 100% innocent, her divorce with Alec Baldwin was a lot meaner spirited than it needed to ever become back then. People had this image of AB being some out of control jilted ex-husband-to-be, and fighting over his kid (who was underage at the time). The problem is that Kim pitted the kid against AB. He went on talk shows (eventually, but not for a very long time) to explain the idea of parental alienation. She (and other terrible parents) don't turn over their daughter for court-ordered visitation, purposely abort an opportunity for a father to be in a child's life (father's do it to mom's too, I know), block phone access, being not available for visitation turnovers (ie: being difficult and passive/aggressive), and flat out talking to the child directly and putting negative ideas in their head. Both my parents did that and it affected me greatly later in life.

The thing is, once the kids come of age, which they are or are fastly approaching, they'll resent her for that. I can only imagine Ireland Baldwin might face the same feelings at some point. They will have some hindsight and realize how much they missed out on time with their dad because of their bitter, has-been mother trying to stack the deck in her favor by using them as pawns. AB had really bad moments in the press & public during that time, no doubt somewhat from his fighting w/ this heifer to see his kid.

If even half of what's on paper is true, she's a shitty human being.

I really felt bad for Alec. I despise people who use their children as pawns. If she wanted to lash-out at him, do it like an adult, don't use your children.

I think she might have thought it was going to be long term but he certainly did not. Robyn Power said she was at Prince's house when Kim came by one day and Prince had to make Robyn hide in a closet while he took Kim away from the house.

So he was not pressed over her at all.
