"Hi Fashion" (Early "The Family" album)

DISCLAIMER: Before a mod decides to move this to the sub-forum of thread-death (AKA "Associated Artists & People"), it should be considered a Prince project, as The Family were not known to yet be involved.

On Princevault, they say the following;

An undated early work-in-progress configuration of the album is known to exist, tentatively titled Hi Fashion, which also included Paisley Park (an instrumental song different from the Around The World In A Day song of the same name, and a track titled BMW(thought to be an interim title of Susannah's Pajamas).

Does anyone have an actual source for this early configuration?

That sounds cool.

And would you look at that, a mod moved it and the thread died in the ass.

This is true. A config. of the album was created with these items.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Thanks, Duane. Do you know of the full tracklist?

(Better yet, is it in your book? Still waiting on my copy to arrive.)

I'll be writing more about it when I do the 85-86 volume, which will likely be the next one (unless I end up doing 81-82 first). I think there were 7 tracks on there (and I think 5 of them ended up on the actual album). I'll look through my notes and see what I can find.

Thank you for getting the book and let me know what you think when you get it.

It's not "a" mod. I'm pretty certain there's one single mod has this compulsive, irresistible need to move threads to AA&P lol I have no quarrel with that person beyond that, and I do not wish to be rude by giving a name, so don't ask me for one, but I'm sure many people here will know who I'm thinking of.

.

A pity really, that in 2017, after the amount of research we have thanks to the likes of Duane on who did what on which record, threads about Prince projects keep being moved here just because Prince chose to release them under an alias or under the guise of a protégé act.

.

The title of the boards is pretty clear, yet: one is about Prince, his music and more, the other is about Associated artists and people. The Family would be PM&M unless addressing the bandmembers specifically. fDeluxe would be AA&P. It's pretty simple...

I would love to see some kind of written configuration

the Family project, I love.

Did Eric Leeds put anything up on the Auction or on his site?
