I am glad people don't use the word "mulatto" anymore. I once looked up where the word came from. And I was shocked to find out that it was Spanish for half-breed mule. Calling a human being a beast of burden. Damn, I am suprised more people weren't offended by that word.

Well, maybe most people aren't as sensitive about a harmless word as you are.

Go around some black folk and use the work 'colored' to describe and see what happens Hoss.

Why don't you tell me what happens, Hoss!

I smell the stench of a banned re-user on this thread. Even posting a race-baiting misquote from one of Prince's statements in their signature.

Let's see if that's allowed.

OK ... the topic is:

a discussion of a chapter in a book written by Van Jones -

"Beyond the Messy Truth: How We Came Apart, How We Come Together"

The book fundamentally discusses politics, but the original poster is referring to a chapter about Prince, to whom there is a dedication.

If anyone wishes to discuss that chapter, the thread is available for that purpose.

The thread is being moved to the Associated forum, given Van Jones association with Prince in the recent years prior to Prince's passing where the same rules apply, including:

  • Be civilized: Do not instigate, engage in, or encourage 'flame wars'. Any language which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense is grounds for immediate account deletion.
  • Do not post racist or 'hateful' material.
  • You're responsible for what you write. prince.org isn't interested in encouraging any illegal activity.
  • Keep messages on-topic

ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
