Joan Osborne talks about meeting Prince and him covering "One of Us"

Check out the article published today by The Current in which Joan Osborne talks about Prince.

"He was just such a showman, and he could do so much. He could sing and play and do all these things all at once, as if it was just the most natural thing to him, as if it was like breathing to him. He was so in command of his artistry, like no other live performer I’ve ever seen."

Words can say a lot. Lol. It's funny how he was mad at Whitney for covering "I'm every woman", yet had no problem covering Joan's song himself.

He loved Chaka Khan and Whiney's version cannot hold a candle to Chaka's

Thanks Latin

Good Stuff...

what a diplomatic come back

So they ushered me into this room, and he was sitting there, just him and Lenny Kravitz.

They said, “Oh, Joan is here to meet you,” and I started gushing about what a great fan I was.

I was all sweaty and I’d been on the dance floor and I must have looked a mess, and I said,

“I just want to give you a hug!”

He said,

“Well, you know, words can say a lot.”

Thanks for sharing, Latin. I absolutely love his cover of "One of Us." Having Prince cover your song must have been bittersweet. On the one hand, I'm sure it was tremendously flattering. On the other hand, it had to be awfully intimidating because once he put his stamp on it, he sort of owned the song. And, that's exactly what happened with "One of Us," at least in my estimation. It is just so beautifully done, better than the original.

Good one I liked reading when Prince shot down Joan's hug - in a nice way, classic.

I luv his cover of One Of Us. Thanx Latin!

Uh, no.
