When we've had discussion on if Vanity 6 or the Time continued with Prince, and what would they be like in the Parade era... This picture above shows me what Vanity 6 could have looked like. And I could easily see Vanity(6) in Under the Cherry Moon

Now this is what it's all about. This is my favourite album of all time. Every song is a winner. It also has the best album cover ever. I pray that Motown release this on CD. Released in 1986, the same year as Janet Jackson - Control and Madonna - True Blue. Skin On Skin deserved 2 be a bigger success.

On the previous album 'Wild Animal',Motown allowed Vanity to have complete control and she wrote the majority of the lyrics. It flopped, though. So for 'Skin On Skin',they took more control of it: picking the songs and supervising the recording sessions. If you notice,on Skin On Skin,Vanity's vocals are better. The first single "Under The Influence" is a major improvement over "Pretty Mess" (which suffered from bad lyrics and weak vocals) [Edited 9/29/17 16:37pm]

I have to be honest: "Animals" is a horrible song.Musically,it's an obvious rip-off of Prince's "Let's Go Crazy".The theme and lyrics is kinda silly.Do any of you like this song?

LOL I wouldn't say horrible...

Prince was able to take the rockabilly sound and create some amazing, distinctive songs."Animals" sounds forced.
one interesting fact: one of the backup singers on "Animals" is Donna Delory, who became one of Madonna's backup singers a year later she was featured on several Madonna tours

Yeah, I guess I'm mostly listening to it thru the visuals of seeing Vanity perform it lol
Yes I saw that Donna Delory was Madonna's back up singer/dancer from 1989(?)-2005

I think that the second single should have been "Confidential".It's one of the stronger tracks and might have done well on R&B stations.

in 1987,Vanity appeared in a movie called 'Deadly Illusion' with Billy Dee Williams....

It's interesting to think of how Vanity 6 and The Time would have evolved (music and image) if they had not broken up and remained in the Prince camp throughout 1985/86/87.

MANHUNT
Let the hunt begin!
Out in the wild and dressed for the kill The natives are restless tonight stalking some prey
A savage untamed To satisfy my appetite Lions and tigers all run with a roar They are not the species that I'm looking for
I'm on a manhunt a manhunt a manhunt And like a cannibal I'll track you down I'll track you down
(I'm on a manhunt) [Verse Two] Setting a trap To the final attack Missionary mambo in mind Locked in a cage For passionate play
You've got to be cruel to be kind

I would have liked Romantic Voyage released as a single. It's such a pretty song that makes u feel good. It is perfectly suited 2 Vanity's voice.

yep. It's a shame that both of her Motown albums are out of print.By now, they should have been reissued/remastered with bonus tracks.
