Jill Jones cannot sing
LMAO she's actually one of the few female Prince proteges who can sing.Remember,Prince used her on the 1999 tour where she hid behind a curtain and sang during Vanity 6's performance.
I do not care for her voice on her solo stuff that was actually released.
For some reason she sounds better on Boom Boom but she did not even like that song
I think her album did not get play on RnB radio because of her voice. I could not hear RnB radio of 1987 playing even a song like G-Spot.

Her album didn't get airplay because (let's face it),by 1987,songs like "G-Spot" and "Mia Bocca" simply sounded dated.I've said this many times before: her album should have been released in late '84 or early '85 so that she could have taken advantage of the Purple Rain hype.At that time, everything that Prince produced got alot of attention and airplay. |

It was dated but her voice is not and still is not the type that would get play on RnB stations. She also said that when she and Prince went to the Black radio convention people in black radio told her they thought she was a white girl and if they had known she was black they would have given her record a spin. So Jill's apperence played a role with the failure of the record at black radio.

I'm not sure if I buy that excuse.Just two years earlier,Sheena Easton's "Sugar Walls" was all over black radio. |

Sheena was not a Prince associated artist. He just wrote one song for her and he wrote it under another name. So my guess is it was getting play well before anyone knew it was Prince who wrote it.
Sheena also does not have blonde hair.
I can believe some black PDs being pissed about another Madonna which is how they looked at Jill. Also some people were bitching about Prince crossing over to pop music back then as well.

Laurarichardson thought Sheila E's 3rd album had not singles
So thinking Sheena & Prince only had 1 song is not a stretch
Yep Sugar Walls, Eternity, 101 & Cool Love(Joey Coco), U Got the Look(collaboration) Arms of Orion
