I love you Vashtix but that is a false statement.
Name all the songs written between 1983-1986 about a possible relationship or woman

are you telling me, they ascribed Susannah to all those songs?

The answer is no.

Thank you!

OK I stand corrected. She did say in that interview it was written about Susannah. In the other interview she said they SANG it about Susannah.

.

.

I can admit when I am incorrect. Thank you.

.

.

Still, going back to the original topic of this thread, Jill said that PP Staff banner her and A6. Not the REv. She said the Rev just asked to keep her away.

.

.

So again, the 2 are not mutually exclusive.

.

.

Thanks for the link! (for real)

.

PS I don't think Lisa has any negative intent. That might be what she actually believes or more likely, doesn't really remember.

.

.

I remember when I first startred on social media and connected with Jill and Sheila and Eric etc. and I asked one of them some arcane question asbout who did a certain part or what instrument was used etc. and the person I asked was like "who remembers? that was 20 years ago! We dont' really remember all those details" and laughted or something like that.

.

.

Moreover, all these folks saying the Rev is doing some kind of "cash grab" or just being mean spirited. They have gone on record saying they are barely making money on the tour, and just giving opinions or offering to help with the vault is not going to get them major $$s.

what are you correcting?
Yes it was sang about Wendy & Susannah.
That was the forward going inspiration in 1985/86

And it still does not negate the Vanity origins.

Yes, that is what we've been trying to expain to LauraRichardson, but she seems to have some kind of cognitive issue and can't comprehend it.

.

.

Laura: Here's another example maybe you can understand.

.

.

Let's say yesterday, someone reading this thread, let's call him "Steve", sat down and wrote a song, called "Annoying Stupid Bitch" set to the music of "Irresistable Bitch" (Live Syracuse '85 version) smile. He composed it and recorded it on his computer using Garage Band.

.

.

A year later, Steve is with his band, in the studio. This woman, Doreen, who works there keeps annoying them, barging in, just bothering the band all day.

.

.

Someone says, "Hey, let's play that song Steve wrote, "Annoying Stupid Bitch."

.

.

They all start playing and singing the song, laughing and joking about a bitch Doreen is. They record it and label it "Annoying Stupid Bitch (2018 version)".

.

.

They release it on iTunes and it becomes a big hit!

.

.

Rolling Stone interviews Steve about the song and he says: "Yeah I wrote it last year about this stupid bitch on Prince.org who woudn't stop jabbering on about something that made no sense, and was annoying everyone on the thread."

.

.

Spin magazine couldn't talk to Steve cuz he was talking to RS, so they interview Lisa and Donald from the band who say "Yeah we were in the studio earlier this year and this bitch Doreen who worked there was bothering us all day so we decided to play this song Steve wrote. We wre laughing and joking about Doreen as we sang it. Everyone knows Doreen is a bitch so we thought it would be funny."

See...... 2 things can be true at the same time!

Sure. But that is notwas Lisa is saying. She said in a recent interview that Wonderful Ass was WRITTEN ABOUT Susannah. Not inspired by during a re-recording. Lisa was wrong. Maybe she forgot, maybe she didn't know the real story behind the song.

It is the same things that has been discussed.

She didn't say anything different from the first time she talked about it.

Yep; he was but they always act like he was dating Susannah ; they conveniently forget to mention the others. I am pointing out the relationship is not as they present it. She was not the lone woman he could be inpired by-

Well it isn't true that people 'conveniently' forget the others.
I don't think anyone fan or band don't know that Prince was seeing other people.

But Prince only 'acknowledged' certain people.
And that is on Prince.

Any other 'unknown' woman that had sex with Prince, if she is looking for her 5min, should not be suprised if people don't give it much attention.

.

The thing is it was only certain songs that any inspiration was given too, not all of them. So there are many other songs about a woman that was never ascribed to Susannah.

I can agree. We need to find Nikki and give her some love!!!!

dual inspirations in Prince's music are not uncommon.

ie When Doves Cry (Susan Moonsie, real life parents, onscreen parents)

yes he loved mystique, what better way to encourage it.

Yes he did, and I believe it was partially why 'purple culture' was so addictive, and 30+yrs later

It needs to be a college elective course.

And I totally agree here!!! Speaking of I heard that university of Minnesota was putting together a symposium that may coincide with celebration next year, do u know anything about this?

What if Vanity's brother in law produces the tape and some written correspondence concerning the song since he said she kept everything. Some of you need to realize that other associates are alive and well and they are not going to just sit back and let these two make up stuff or overstate their involvement.

Not sure why people on this board are okay with the overstating.

I am good with " I stand corrected" It is not about ripping anyone some of you just cannot stand to be wrong which is odd because all of us are wrong sometimes.

I also never said the Revolution was cashing in by touring. Someone is going to have to help with vault material and they are not going to be doing this for free. Down the road people are going to be compensated and you can see numerous associates trying to get the gig.

It is going to happen let's stop pretending.

What was Tick Tick Bang about in 1981 vs 1990, did inspiration change? Was it about something specific or someone specific? in 1981 and then other inspirations add onto it in 1990?

So the idea for the song changed a few years later? You realize that if the song was written about a lady's rear end unless her rear end fell off the song was still originally written about that women butt. I simply think Lisa is a goofball and is wrong on this one and you are determined that this song was about S+L come hell or high water. Not trying to deter the current conversation but I am thinking that since we are learning Prince and Denise were close over the decades there is much none of us know. I had no idea they were close over the decades. I have to say we have absolutely no real knowledge of many things.

I am thinking of the famous line "you can't handle the truth." and I am admitting I do not think I can.

You know, it is possible (since they were both around at about the same time) that Prince gave it to both of them. He could have told Denise that it was about her and that it was her song, but then (knowing how Prince could change his mind with a blink of an eye) told W&L that he had written it about Susannah. And if that is the case, then neither of them are lying, neither of them are making things up, they are both relaying the truth as they saw it and was told by Prince. Prince was a HUGE player and it seemed to be a part of his M.O. "This song is about you (for you)". I'm sure that statement made many a woman swoon right into his arms.

But that's not my point, Vashtix. Heck, Prince could have written it about his Wonderful Ass, and told Vanity it was for her. My point is, Prince could have really written it about anyone, but then turned around and said to Denise, "I wrote this song about you. My gift to you." And then a few years later told W&L, "I wrote this about Susannah." (I know Jill has stated she was in the studio with Prince when he was recording it, but that doesn't exclude Prince telling Wendy that he recorded it for Susannah since it had never been released. She wouldn't know when it was written for sure, and would accept Prince at his word.) Prince could have recycled many songs in that way, no effort needed, song hasn't been released, and if they weren't familiar with it, they would believe him when he said, "I wrote this about you." And if he did that, then it doesn't make Wendy's recollections wrong, she's telling the truth as she knows it from what Prince has said, and it doesn't make Jill wrong, because she's telling the truth as she knows it from what Prince said while they were recording.

Do you really think, Prince with his revolving door of women, had no issue in sharing a song with 2-4 different women, a friend, a family member etc?

Why is this so hard to believe?

Again, unless someone was in the camp in 1984-86 sharing paperwork with Denise's brother in law, there is a high probability that he doesn't have anything from that period.

You realize that if the song was written about a lady's rear end unless her rear end fell off the song was still originally written about that women butt. I simply think Lisa is a goofball and is wrong on this one and you are determined that this song was about S+L come hell or high water. So think what you want to think and I will think what I want think. Oh you have no idea what documents or papers her brother-in-law has as he said she almost threw nothing away.

Prince & Vanity communicated still. I don't think they were lovers still.

I knew for a while that Vanity & Prince stayed in touch. Not many people from that 78-88 period he did not stay in touch with. Doesn't mean he continued to write songs about Vanity.
And I would not want Prince to still be 'involved' with Vanity because it was not good for her when she was with him. It wasn't healthy for her, and she was not healthy.
