StevenAnthony said: "Killing At The Soda Shop" is one of the worst songs I've ever heard, good god.
If there was no Killing At The Soda Shop, then there would be no Marz. Some wouldn't care about that as PE gets criticized a lot here but I'm saying that Killing At The Soda shop is that punk new wave Prince and company we're into in that prime 80-83 era. It would fit on Vanity 6 album. Oooh She Wa Wa style "Climb in my fur."

I dig Jill's emotional vocals compared to Lisa's detached ones. I mean I love them both and it's good to get two distinct voice versions of it. "Climb in my fur."

Our Destiny is definitely unfinished, you can hear the crowd/intro from the birthday show. Prince's piano on Wednesday is gorgeous. Looks like I know what I'm transcribing this weekend... "Like the drummer said, you got to die."

Yes and b4 you ear a part of the birthday gig... "Money won't buy U happiness but it'll pay 4 the search."

Prince sang the song in the 83' piano rehearsals.. "Money won't buy U happiness but it'll pay 4 the search."

Okay... so this thread got moved to Associated Artists... WHY???!!!! I mean, it's better than what I thought at first, which was that it just got "disappeared" for some reason. But, to my mind, any new Prince outtakes (and these definitely are THAT, even if they also are Jill Jones outtakes) should be discussed on the Prince forum. I get moving stuff about people's non-Prince-tied careers, but not this.
As to Our Destiny. Jill certainly acts more in her vocal than Lisa does--I just have to decide which style of performance fits the song better for me. The balance between vocal and music is something I wish were worked out more fully. I'd like it to be part of a fuller arrangement, and more of a piece with the music in the mix. But, you know... it isn't. For whatever reason--maybe because it wasn't finished back then... or maybe because Jill finished her part just now.

Wonder if RG on this leak is the same as released on PR Deluxe... "I like to watch."

Wow. I love Killin at the Soda Shop. I had no idea how sexy Jill Jones' voice is. Now I'm taking a listen to All Day All Night and some others.

But that too is misplaced anger. The Revolution had nothing to do with her success or lack. That was all between her and Prince right up until 1990 GB when he had her lip sync a song lead by Elisa Fiorillo. Her career in the Prince camp was Prince.

I don't think we hear Wednesday in the snippet with Prince singing. I believe people know it as 'What'll I do'

I just listened to it and you're right. No the best song, but nice to have anyway. At least we now know that it is ok it was left out of the deluxe album...

Right thanks I can never remember what it is labelled as. when U say he sings Wednesday, you mean you hear him say Wednesday? That is what I meant. From the intimate moments piano session and the general snippet I never heard 'Wednesday'
just listening 2 Eavesdropped In Intimate Moments and there is a 7:55min piano medley from 1983 Strange Relationship International Lover/Do Me Baby Wednesday I had the little snippett of Wednesday() but somehow forgot this piano medley http://prince.org/msg/7/438847?sub=1

I always heard Lisa's as doe eyed and 60ish hippie utopian like.

So cool all this stuff is being unearthed which just continues the mystery of Prince
I mixed Jills vocals with Lisas voice and damn they sound good together on this track!
Mix in a little Prince and BAM Our Destiny is now badass!!! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Killing at the Soda shop's beat is reminiscent of 'Sister'! Fun! Interesting to hear the strings here that were later used in Graffiti Bridge!
Wednesday could have been on disc 2 of the unreleased songs.
Our Destiny - these vocals have a bit too much cockiness and swagger for me, I think I prefer Lisa's more gentle style tbh!

I like "Our Destiny" with Jill Jones vocals better. And why couldn't they fit "Wednesday" on Purple Rain Deluxe????

Regarding "Love Machine", I very very much doubt Jill would have knowingly done a lipsync to someone else's vocal. |

Yeah that is what she talked about after the filming.
We talked about that, and how Prince was with her during that filming.
Was there ever a version with Jill on lead vocals? Love machine #1 (lead vocals by [Prince]) (5:18) Love machine #2 (5:01) Love machine #2 (segue) (0:39) Love machine #3 (3:34)

LOL, these are great. I much prefer the Jill Jones vocals on Our Destiny but I see opinion is divided on that. Great to have both though!

I don't think so. True, sessions for her second album and Corporate World happened in Summer 89 so she may have recorded a version that hasn't been documented (we keep finding out that she's recorded versions of songs we never knew she had, after all...), but by the time the film was shot, the Corporate World Morris/Elisa version had long been in the can, and was obviously the one intended for the movie from the beginning. Even if we admit that Jill had recorded a version for CW before Elisa was overdubbed on it, I can't imagine Prince bothering to use that one for the shoot, to then use Elisa's cut. Jill was pissed to death when shooting GB anyway, so I guess she just did whatever she was told and flew back to London ASAP. Those leaks by Jill seem to confirm that she was the one behind the 4 Lust leak in 2011. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
