Another interview...with Wendy and Lisa http://www.latimes.com/en...story.html
A couple things.
I have a question...I don't mean this in a mean way...But is it possible that there is a component of anger about the way he died? Like "Fucker, how could you do this to yourself? Why couldn't you come to us?" coming from the Revolution.

You missed the most important part. Wendy said, "There are “at least four” unheard albums by Prince and the Revolution." I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

That is the real deal. RELEASE THE MUSIC!!! LOL RELEASE THE MUSIC ...and the music continued 4 ever... 'Purple Rain script

Maybe she just means quite a few songs that could be turned into albums. By the way, there are probably quite a few albums in there without the Revolution.

[Edited 6/22/17 17:05pm] I respect them for not doing songs they were not involved with. But I would be curious who all these people are out there claiming to be his best friend (that I guess Bobby doesn't agree with). I guess I'm not really aware of people coming out of the woodwork to say this. Paisley Park is in your heart

I ordered PR deluxe last night. I should get it on Tuesday.
Not to drive people crazy but I really can't help myself, but I think Vault music is not the only music that should get a full release.
Check out these prices for a non-Warner Brothers album.. (this is Amazon and obviously this is an import). I think this is as much of a travesty as music never intended to be released getting stored away. You have to be independently wealthy to listen to the Gold Experience...LOL

Probably the people like, Sheila & Apples, and all the other women throwing shade at each other, who are now thinking that they were sooo close to Prince.

Touring is EXPENSIVE and they're hardly selling every night out (the ATX show I went to was over half full but had a lot of the 3rd mezzanine unsold). And I suspect they are losing revenue opportunities by not doing scoring.

Apples seems like she is full of shit but who knows.... Sheila has the track record with Prince so that's a bit unfair of them if they are referring to her.
As for W and L, the article contended that it was a limited contact type of thing where Wendy was concerned (not sure to what degree..Wendy did imply that there were phone conversations relatively close to his death in other interviews). Lisa stated in another interview that Prince was her friend but implies in this interview that he lost relationships due to his rock star obsession and inability to be vulnerable (in reference to a drug problem no one knew about). So she is in a way implying limited contact with her as well. But she still calls him a friend.
All these people are exploiting Prince to some extent. W and L may not be making money but who doesn't love being loved by audiences for being the band that worked with PRince at his peak. Its still exploiting. That is the only thing that is clear. The degree in which anyone can call Prince a friend is only known by themselves and Prince. No one else knows unless they were there. Plus, of course what constitutes a frienship. Marriage and family are easier to define than friendship. There are people I haven't talked to in years who I considered my friends. If I ran into them tomorrow and we just started hanging around again, I don't think it would take long to re-establish the bond.

No doubt. But I was wondering about the fellas..they don't have tv scoring to pay their bills.

Maybe not, but they certainly had something that they were doing that they're not doing now. Maybe this is more lucrative, maybe not. All I knew is I looked around the Moody Theater, looked at my husband, and said to him, "They are NOT making money doing this." And yeah they probably like the fan response a lot, but undersold shows always get to you at least a little bit. But if they were shaken by it, you couldn't tell. Some bands let it visibly get to them, and some are damn professionals. I've done marketing for live events for 8 years now, and I don't know who's promoting these shows. Live Nation booked it, but I haven't seen ads even for the Seattle show. And how hard is it to run Facebook ads about the show to people who like Purple Rain on Facebook? What I'm saying is, I don't think they have a ton of support financially on this tour.

Interesting. Thanks.

I think they have anger about how he died but I think they are wrong to think they could have doen something to help. If he had joint pain problems those problems were not going to go away and no one has a final solution for that stituation. In addition, if he had other health issues once again nothing that can be done by W&L either. Prince was not a stupid person and did not lack resources to resolve his issues. They are making the assumption ( since they were not close to him anymore) that he did not do enough to care for himself and I think they are wrong and we are going to find out more as time moves on.
In the meantime I kind of wish they would just stop doing interviews. I actually thought Mark Brown was bad but these two or worst. Maybe Bobby Z should just be the spokes person.

About a year and a half ago Mark Brown was advertising his skills as a bassist on this Facebook page and was looking for bookings.
Matt Fink was touring with a group called the Purple Experience and Prince cover band but he was actully out on the road working.

The Gold Experience pops up on Tidal from time to time. You can buy it and get someone to burn it on a CD.

You could also just stop reading their interviews.

She was close to him since 1978. Before W+L and worked with him until 2012. It is no different than people continually insisting he had no life until the Revolution came along

I'm not aware of all these random people coming out now and saying they were best buds with Prince. I can't imagine he's referring to people like Kim Berry and Shelby J. Van Jones maybe? i dont think from interviews ive heard kim berry saying she and prince were friends more than saying she always kept it real with him which the lady was around him for over 20 years . the revolution seems to think they are the know all and do all when it comes 2 prince like when wendy and lisa said they introduced him 2 the beatles ok yet prince, morris day and jimmy and terry said growing up in minnie there was nothing but one black music station all they had was white music so i dont see how that story could be so true but let them tell it prince was sitting at him watching tv until they came alone and made him who is and was

She wasn't close to him since 1978. He and Andre saw her at a concert in 79 or 80. And no one every insisted he had no life until the Revolution came along. Stop lying.

I think for the most part, they are financially set. Bobby Z I believe owns a media company

That's obvioulsy not true. When Doves Cry is played every show by the Revolution. Add plenty of song they only contributed backing vocals to. If they were to play only songs they were involved in creating, it would be a very short show. The wooh is on the one!

U know they are talking about time periods of the band members. They performed the song live wonderfully in 1984-1986

Those concerns come in contrast with some of the jockeying for position the musicians say they’ve witnessed in the wake of Prince’s death. “There seem to be thousands of people now who were his best friend,” said Bobby Z, whose work with the singer dates back to his earliest performances. “That’s a little mystifying to me.” Especially on his B'day and anniversary of his death......for the $$$$$$$$$$ and the shine.

Hope to hear them in this lifetime. I have a feeling it's going to be awhile before there's something else released. Something about the haphazard nature of the "vault" tracks on PR Deluxe tells me WB is not combing thru the archives.

Who? Name names. I'd imagine he was using hyperbole to make a point but it's probably a dig at Londell and Van Jones more than anyone else. Maybe all the girlfriends as well but in fairness none of them seem to have been particularly money grabbing about it all. The only person I saw who was obviously selling their story was Anna Fantastic but she wasn't claiming friendship in recent years. [Edited 6/26/17 2:05am]
