Set aside the "artist" in this production (Tyka), for just a minute. Just focus on the song... Is the vocal performance super strong? No. Is there something unique and special about this voice or delivery, or content for that matter? Nope. Now, lay this song (just the music and video) next to the various medicore R&B offerings available in the market today. Does this stand out as a result of it's superior quality, musicality, visuals... anything? Um... no. No, it does not. Replace the artist and lyrical content with anything else... would I buy this? No. And I buy LOTS of R&B... and Pop and, and, and...
Now, as for the "artist" (Tyka) and her motivation...
This was "a final birthday gift" to her brother? Um... unfortunately... he's no longer here. Thus, that can't be the motivation for this. So... I wonder... what could that motivation be??? Could it be... I dunno... a need for attention like her scream/singing at the MN Offical Tribute concert? Maybe the same motivation as the ill-conceived reality show that they were/are talking about? $$$? I dunno.
So, then... what exactly IS this??? I don't know.
Whatever in the crispy-fried hell this is, I think it's gross.
