Everyone needs to just get a grip on themselves and stop this blasting people for doing things and then giving a pass to others. Its her brother, OK, regardless of what we might think of what their relationship was like we have no friggin clue what they felt for each other. How much do you seriously think TYKA is going to make off this??? are you friggin kidding me, you are acting like she will be raking in millions for this song and video clip, it probably cost more to make then she will make be serious folks, you are acting really stupid now.

Yep XxAxX, I'm with you nod Loved the song and also think it was a lovely tribute to her brother. Everyone is up in arms thinking about her making money off this...guess people forget she will be wealthier than she ever dreamed possible once the estate is settled? What she gets for this is peanuts. Did you notice how her fingers are very similar to P's fingers?

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

Tacky... eeehmm I mean Tyka does exactly the wrong thing.
It's only about money, money, money confused

And why is it that every time I see her, I have to think about the Windowlicker video from Aphex Twins? eek

It was heartfelt and very moving. As mentioned on the duplicate threat, Prince-like vocals (perhaps Prince's?) have been woven into the song and the video is in total harmony with it... A beautiful way to pay tribute to her brother. 💜

Here is Tyka's Facebook post. The business about Empire is because the director of the video is a producer for Empire and it should be obvious that the surprise is the song and family pics.

At no time does she say anything about a reality show. This was just a gift for her brother's birthday. She explains everything in the post below. Some of you should really be ashamed of yourselves. I cannot under why ex-wives are okay to say and do whatever to appear to have been relevant but his own sister can say or do nothing.

Tyka Nelson

16 hrs ·

Hey Everybody!

Lot’s 2 say so bare with me…

Last year at this time, my brother’s passing still wasn’t %100 real to me…This year it is…
So it’s really the first time of his earthly birth, that I don’t have him here with me…and my sadness at times is overwhelming

If U haven’t guessed by now…I have a new song & video out, which is the surprise called End of The Road from the upcoming EP Enlightened

The first song I’ve recorded in six years

This track was inspired by three of the Most Incredible human beings I have ever met...
In it I’m telling my parents about my feelings & struggles since my brother died last year

Prince’s earthly departure left me with no full biological family…

Through lyrics I also sing my thoughts regarding racial inequality & prejudice

My mom and dad created a Masterpiece they named Prince. He grew into a Man who became not only a Wonderful brother and friend, but also one of the Most Prolific Songwriters of All Time/Entertainers & Musicians who was like no other

In writing End of The Road, I share My belief that when the soul separates from the body we pass on from a temporary existence to an eternal one

Though my brother didn't publicly celebrate birthdays, me and some of his friends continued to celebrate for him, with him and gave him gifts,

throughout the years

Right after he bought the building now known as Paisley Park he started telling me, "You can come out here and record!"
Repeating himself whenever I released a new project, I'd turn him down saying, "No thanks, I wanna stand on my own."

After Prince passed I wanted to give him one final birthday present & I decided to fulfill his wish, and to record my new song at Paisley Park.

This song poses the question…“Is this The End of The Road?”

And my answer is, “I don't think so!”

"I will see All three of my Beautiful family members someday again…"

“Happy B-day Bruh…Thanks for sharing ur life with me!!!”

Picture Hint’s:

I asked; Can u tell which one is me and Prince’s mom?
Mom is the top little girl in the doorway…My Aunt Edna is on the stairs and my Grandmother is the lady in the front

I asked; How many people do u see in this picture?
Mom, and Prince by the stairs…and yes, she’s pregnant with me

The rest of the pictures explain themselves regarding the a Special Gift 2 All of U (see below)

I want to Thank ALL of Those who played the guessing games with me…I’ve Truly enJoyed ur responses!!

So, put on yo Purple and Dance 2 sum Prince Music!
And if u anit got no purple or no P Funk…JUST DANCE!!!!!
Much Luv & Respect 2 U All

I'm in favor of Prince's family sharing things with us, that would normally not be shared. At this point, knowing that he is gone, I'm grateful for anything the family wants to share with us.

She's not sharing, she's promoting her own music.

So how else would she recoup her expenes for making a video and recording a song. She has not inheirited one damm penny of money yet and if the estate does not settle these pending lawsuits it could be another two or three years before she sees a dime of money. Do you think she will make enough money to live like a queen off of this one recording or her whole E.P.?

I like this song and I am going to buy it from Tidal not stream but purchase. I even like some of her other music that is on YOUTUBE which had no Prince involvement at all.

Tyka needs to move on and live her life and I cannot understand for the life of me why some of you have a problem with her and not Ian and his outright stealing of P's music which some of you were eager to purchahse from Ian not the estate.

None are full sibs and remember John ran off with Mattie leaving those kids and their mom behind.

The mom became an alcoholic and died from alcoholism I suspect that Prince and Tyka may not have been high on the list of the older sibs list of favorite people.

Remember the two older sisters said in CBS News the had never been in the studios.

It is not bad, by far. OK, the sound is what it is, it's 2017.
The song is still something.

I really like the ambiguity in "Brother", very Princey and that's what makes it a good song.
It could be about Prince, but it works out of context. Lyrically, it ain't no Dylan, eh...
But it's an extraordinary story. The girl tries to live in the shadows of the man (like every person that came close to him), but the guy is her brother, year after year he grows bigger and farther away, then the dope and the dicks you don't feel like sucking (pardon my french). She went down low, man.

I can see how you would interpret this as a solo "2300 Jackson Street" or some way to capitalize on the blood, and make an ad for PP visits.
So some guys did the music for this, it's show-business, you can't expect Prince-levels, or you're a deluded fruitcake anonymous.
The girl has some money to spend, it was her brother's gift, willingly or not. After what she went through, I think it's OK.
I'm still mad at her for publicizing "The One Song", though.
Let this embarassment of a tune rest in peace... Prince was a very kind spirit, but the One Song is something you say to a person to start a conversation. On record, it's ridiculous and the total opposite of the Lovesexy Spirit. "The One Song" finds Prince in a very sad and depressed place, maybe worse than "Solo", because at least "Solo" admits the bleakness he was in.

I think given Tyka's story (going down on toxic drugs can only mean the whole family situation caused her some pretty serious wounds), I think it's a beautiful way to celebrate Prince.
I sure wish that in the future, June 7th gets more celebrated than April 21st.

She has an interesting timbre. The first album said so, the songs weren't just strong enough.
Never understood why Prince didn't get more involved, but lots was happening, and it is their story after all.
Yes, good song, good performance, good spirit.
It's really not as bad as some orgers claim. I found myself humming after turning it down, so mission accomplished. There's nothing left but the buzz for most of the music anyway these days.
Still beats Madonna's and the other Mars clown homage, and by far, when it comes to the use of Prince's image, and to send him true love.

Just gave it another spin on the headphones, the "I don't think so!" at the end is great, again, very Princey in the spirit.

We're fatally biaised because spreading P's work comes with monetary problems. It's gonna take money not to see Paisley taking rust, and everyone here can understand that. It's not like there were some mystical forces at work to preserve Audubon Road forever, and even if there were, better be safe than sorry.

This video is great, fantastic shots, perfect use of photos (at last!), parcimony with the family pictures, I could do without Tyka dancing, but hey, if she found her teen years again, go Sister. That's not the end of the road, fo' sure. It never is.

Even the last shots are honest. I see folks lost, more than anything. They didn't expect Prince passing, they didn't expect any of this. It's like they won the lottery for no reason, and everyone is mad at them. Let them be, they'll grasp it with time.
At least Tyka already knows how important Prince can be on an emotional level.

To cure the ear of the people, man!
I'll count the days.

Interesting. I have 5 brothers and sisters but I'm the only one that was born of the marital union between my mother and father. I think I'll call them and let them know that I am an only child because they are not my full siblings and were raised by their grandmother.

You're right, no one is asking the question because most of us know where we stand on this one, but I think it's the question Tyka felt she wanted to address.

I think that in her excitement about what she was going to share, we felt her energy and made the assumption that the surprise would be something from the vault, unreleased DVDs, or his autobiography, etc...I think everyone would have loved any of these and it's natural to be disappointed.

However, to her, he's not just Prince the international superstar, he's her big brother teaching her how to tie her shoes and visiting her and encouraging her everyday when she was in rehab. I believe that, in her heart, she wanted to make him proud.

She chose to honor him by asking a question in song and IMHO I think he'd be delighted with the question that she chose. Afterall, Prince was all about the afterworld...

I'm just happy to see a tribute that IMO came from a place of love and respect.

You THINK?!? Yeah. This isn't Tyka.org, of course we would expect and want something from Prince.

How many of us have any of her albums? How many of us knew she had her own "career"? I buy anything that Prince performed, wrote or produced and until I just checked discogs, I only knew about her first album, Royal Blue, and don't even own that one, just have a copy of someone else's CD. Heard it once and forgot about it... I'm not saying she has no talent I'm saying I'm not interested in her music, at least none that I've heard so far, including this track.

After reading several comments of people "hearing" Prince in the song I decided that the one play I gave it on my laptop yesterday wasn't sufficient and just played it again through my 800W Peavey system and NO. No way is Prince on this. I don't hear it at all.

All that said, yeah she's his sister, and yes it's "sweet" of her and sure the pictures of them were nice, but, none of this changes the reality that for most of us our only interest in her is as her role in the estate in regards to future releases of Prince's catalog/vault. This is why we're here, this is what we want.

If this comes across as "mean" or "insensitive", then sorry. Just being honest.

"No role"? Sure she has a "role". As the most well-known face representing the estate, she could take the role of keeping the fans informed as to what's going on, what's being planned, how/if the vault is being catalogued, details concerning WB or Universal, something. Information/communication will do fine until such time as music/videos/memoir/etc are available.

And a little glee that she can come out from behind big brother beloved super star's shadow. Oh yeah and she's rich. I hated the creepy guessing game, the costume she had on was strange, the hand movements were even worse. Wake up Tyka you're almost 60, you don't have much of an audience.

And a little glee that she can come out from behind big brother beloved super star's shadow. Oh yeah and she's rich. I hated the creepy guessing game, the costume she had on was strange, the hand movements were even worse. Wake up Tyka you're almost 60, you don't have much of an audience. [Edited 6/8/17 10:11am]

She is not rich as she has not inherited anything at this time.

As far as Tyka's singing goes- I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think I would buy her album, if she put one out. I like her voice. The song sounded nice.

I agree; Tyka has a very nice voice; very soothing, and jazzy/soulful, like her brother, Prince. You can hear Prince in that song. They come from good genes; Mattie was a jazz singer and John was a talented musician--and they produced two beautiful children together. heart

Tyka answering a question nobody's asking neutral

I agree. Tyka is a singer, after all (she recorded a few albums of her own), and it seems only fitting that she would want to record a song to honor her late brother. I think what is upsetting people the most is that she did this on Prince's Birthday, and it gives the impression to people that she did this just to plug her song. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and I understand Tyka's pain and wanting to do this as a gift to her late brother. I guess it's just a no-win situation. If this song helped her find closure with her brother, then it's all good. I don't think Tyka had any ill-intent with putting this song out. I do agree with other's that she could have done this at another time. I think people's expectations were high and then were crushed. Makes me think of that Kool and the Gang song "Mislead". People felt they were mislead. confused

Oh well. What can you do, right? confused
