If you are having difficulty listening to it, madhouseman posted a different link in his posting #25.

Thanks again madhouseman.

Thanks, it's interesting to hear Prince's comments on these songs. He's not right about all of them though smile For example, Whitney's vocals on the selected track isn't exactly an example of a singer having "incredible, masterful pitch-control"... She often slips out of tune on this track.

Sorry, first you have to click the large black play button on the left side of the screen. If that doesn't appear at your end then you'll need to check your browser settings/plugins.

Oh, Whitney... ye who makes my ears shrivel. Not that she can't sing, because she can, she really can. But those high notes... NO. I cannot. biggrin

And yeah, you're right, sometimes she was totally not in tune, there.

I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

No such thing on my phone or computer. Just the blue one taking me to a different program.
.
I even installed the app, found it and got a message saying "This episode has already aired".
.
So it's not a streaming site.

what a poorly designed page. I'm trying to listen to this, but it isn't very intuitive. It keeps playing what is playing live and not the interview they are promoting.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

fantastic...there were 2 Joni Mitchell songs which i'm not surprised about. Susan said that although Prince took on the Jimi Hendrix look (1983/1984) but his playing style was Carlos Santana. I totally agree and have always though so. Melodically, his most 'odd' or 'strange' or 'Princeish' melodies were influenced by Joni Mitchell. I'm absolutely sure of this as I get into Joni's discography more, i become more certain. On Court and Spark she has a song called 'down to you' which I'm positive must have been a fav of Prince's at some point. There are so many bits that he took from it...not a copy but a hell of a feel.

Prince was a master in how he was able to incoporate unique sounds of others into his own music to make somehthing totally unique. Who else could do that w/o sounding derivitive (Lenny?).

Miles Davis is another who i'm learning of more and more and it is so clear that they were so similar. Eric Leeds says it in interviews that the two had so many similarities. Never rest on the old stuff, always move forward. True artists.

I've tried it on a few, but it keeps playing other shows. Thanx. I must be doing something wrong.
