Am I the only one that can't stand Larry Graham? I've been doing a whole lot of reading about Prince over the last year, more than ever because of his demise. What is it about Larry Graham that I DON'T LIKE????

I think Larry Graham gets a bad rap because he was instrumental in converting Prince to the Jehovah's Witness faith. Many of us might not like that decision, but it was Prince's choice to make. Moreover, Mr. Graham was doing what he really believes is his God-given duty: spreading "The Truth." [Edited 5/17/17 20:32pm]

What exactly is it that you don't like? Only you can know that. I love his speaking and singing voice and his bass playing. I'm Also grateful that he was Prince's spiritual mentor. I think he helped to save Prince's life. I know there are some people who don't have an affinity for him personally, and I think that stems from either their intolerance of religion or other things they felt about him in his regards to his relationship with Prince. I don't know if he made mistakes, but I do know none of us is perfect, and he loved that brother.

He is going out on tour this year. I don't care for him at all. I have had people shoot me down on this board for saying that, but I think Prince was his money source, and he brought Prince into the JWs, which didn't help Prince at all.

I like the fact Larry Graham was a vehicle used to get Prince away from people who were very bad for him.

Larry Graham did save Prince's life and I will always be grateful for him. Poor Prince was in a bad space and he needed to clean house.
I also like the Larry Graham has not been writing books and media blasts yet. I like that about him very much.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I tend to think of the JWs and like groups as one step down from Scientology. For Prince, IMO, it contributed to what I call his "off the deep end" phase.

I am still trying to figure out how to photoshop Larry out of all the videos I have downloaded. I dont care for his towel shaking wife Tina either.

I am glad for the off the deep end phase or I think he would have gone crazy. He had bad stuff around him when Larry entered. Prince came out of his phase a better man. I am not into JWs but it was good for him. Anything go get him to stop the madness he had happening in the 90s. Larry I think gave Prince a man who had been in world Prince was in and knew the game. He was able to see much of what Prince did not because Prince was in the forest. Larry could see the trees.

Larry could see The Money Tree. That is the only tree Larry saw. [Edited 5/18/17 16:53pm]

Co-sign- Even Sheila Evsaud she is not a JW but she said it changed him and made him a better person. I think we got him 20 years longer than would have otherwise.

not a fan of the Graham
I think he slowed Prince down and stopped him from going further into directions he seemed to want to go at times

I also like the Larry Graham has not been writing books and media blasts yet. I like that about him very much. Amen, amen and Amen. I saw a brief, rare interview with him several months after Prince died. The poor guy looked so damned cut up...looked like his had been crying nonstop since April 21...he was extremely sad. That relationship is like no other any of us has in our lifetimes; it's special.

I think we were given an extension due to Larry's presence too. The 90s was tough. He had ditched so many people who seemed to really care for him the man not the star.

naw other places good
I think with Prince's 'fantasy' music culture, the direction Larry opened for him actually helped him to be in denial, and avoidance.

I hope you are not driving at his lifestyle. Because I believe he did what he wanted to do and always had a love of God. You cannot always serve two masters and what one person thinks his pleasurable another person may find replusive because that is how they feel.

I cannot cut n paste where I am right now, but there are things like his response to death 'don't think about them and they'll come back' I have a slew of stuff, I'll post later

I think of him in a similar way to Tom Cruise. I love Larry's music like I love Tom Cruise's movies and I don't allow their cult beliefs to interfere with my enjoyment of their work.

IMO Prince held onto beliefs that were extreme and not supported by fact. I am not talking about JW religious dogma - I am talking about his foray into the Illuminati, history, etc. It wouldn't have surprised me if he believed 9/11 was caused by our government - he was that far off the charts.

Read a little bit about the WAY community center he want to as a child apparently it was a very militant community center so I am sure his late 1960s and early 70s upbringing comes into play. I think that Prince's spiritual path did him far more good than harm and if he encountered LG and the JW on that path then so be it. Even through that phase Prince never completely abandoned his core beliefs and I am proud of him for having the courage to continue seeking throughout his life. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Larry wore P down when he was vulnerable. I want to smack Larry with the microphone that is stuck on his bass.
