Wasn't Robin Power still around during that time of 89-92?

I think Robin was gone before 1990 ended

I know that our "relationship" back in 1990-1992 was one that was secret- and I never told a soul...because I had too much respect for you. You knew that and so did I. That is why you called me after 20 years. You trusted me. I wish I could have been there to protect you from whatever or whoever it was that let you leave this world. One day....one day we will. 4ever in our hearts.

Wow. Well, she didn't worry about coming out with it now.

And the "was one that was secret" comment... some of these women were really silly. Keeping a relationship a secret is basically the same as saying they don't want people to know about it and they should have asked themselves why. All this "not telling no one just proves how much i respect Prince and that he can trust me, otherwise I'll be out of here in no time" mantra served him well...

Hey, that 1990-1992 time period was from when he had just met Mayte up until she was finally 18...

Hmmm...Interesting timeline.

No wonder he wanted things kept secret. That was also during overlapping time periods with Devin Devasquez, Nona Gaye, Carmen Electra and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone or two, but that's all I can think of right now.

I was wondering about that.

I paid somewhere around $100 dollars for my first celebration in 2000 and attended private parties for I think $12. Prince was there 9/10 times jamming with musicians. It was the best experience ever. Needless to say I met some great people there...

The price of the celebration is the most expensive I've ever seen and there must be a reason for that. confused

I have no allegiance to Graceland holdings or Tyka or Omarr but the idea that they're charging these prices just to line their own pockets is absurd. And now knowing that they had to spend millions to get PP up to code and the money couldn't come from the Estate...well it's got to come from somewhere. The Graceland guy says the majority of $$ from ticket sales is being plowed right back into PP. I have no reason to assume he's lying. But then again I don't buy into this whole narrative that everyone is just out to make money off Prince.

Yes. So much yes. This money is not going to appear out of thin air. Prince did those things at a financial loss. This can no longer happen. It's a business, and needs to be run as such.

These women need to stay the hell away from social media. Why does it have to be important for us to know your opinion? Like Elisa reiterates twice, it is just her opinion. I'm tired of hearing what Prince would and wouldn't have liked. Only Prince knew that and guess what? He doesn't care anymore. Harsh but true! Just tired of all the backstabbing.

There are 52 weeks in a year. I like Shelby but I do think picking this week to release her album smells of opportunism.

Also, don't be hypocrites. The Revolution themselves were throwing shade at Sheila for talking about Prince on the day of his death. They were concerned with timing themselves.

I think coming up to the anniversary of Prince's death is like a full moon.

.

Who is to really tell anyone how to express themselves?
.
I mean if the actual musicians were not musicians and jumped out of nowhere to do music, would be one thing, but music in all ways is how they make their living. Mayte aside(that is being talked about enough in other places) what would be the appropriate time for Shelby? Should she go get a 9 - 5 until she feels others will allow her to make music and not be accused of cashing in?

Exactly. I think it was a bit of a cheap shot on Elisa's part.

I don't see what the big deal is. She's in Minnesota for the Celebration events. I'm sure she knows initially the people interested in her music will be Prince fans. She's done a few interviews with local radio and TV and spent next to no time talking about her album other than what the name of it is and when you can buy it. I think it was a cheap shot. if Rlisa didn't feel comfortable being in Minnesota this week fine. She didn't have to take a swipe at Shelby at the same time.

Btw Shelby said her album was supposed to drop in 2014 but got delayed because she was going through a divorce (she said Prince was a big support during that difficult time). She said the album is dedicated to her father and Prince the two most important men in her life. I'm sorry but for Elisa to think Shelby's being opportunistic just makes me think a little bit less of Elisa. Just because you have a right to say something doesn't always mean you should. Disagreeing with her is fine. But for me, if I see someone doing something I think is wrong, I'm not going to hold my tongue. I'm going to ask questions and speak. You can listen or respond or not, its fine. But think about it this way, if someone doesn't speak to present a different way to approach the business, how would you ever know? I like when people speak up. It helps all of us grow if we're willing to listen. Not just those being spoken to, but the speaker.. maybe there's an assuption she made because she only sees a part of a situation. How would she clarify that if the issue isn't brought up for another to clarify. People bottling up their thoughts just leads to emotional burnout. Speak. Be rational. Listen. Hear things rationally. And decide if what's being spoken is relevant to you or not. Given all of their relationships with Prince, I'm sure there's mountains of emotions they have all bottled up. Let them voice what's bothering them.

Wrong according to her standards. Who gave her the rules of conduct in what others are to do?

.

Putting it on FB as if the people she is talking about is reading it, is passive aggressive. If she cannot call someone or does not have that relationship to call, then she should just leave it alone. FB rants cause more problems than anything. People are busy and a lot of people just are not on FB or social media like that.
.
She sang backup with Shelby for how many years? And you cannot call her? That is how relationships become broken or strained.

.

If I put a message up on FB directed at my dad or uncle, how do I know they got it? My dad rarely checks his FB page. If a family member or friend did that to me, the relationship would most likely be ending soon. If you cannot respect me enough to call me, but want to blast me according to your personal standards for everyone to see/hear, then you have no respect for me, and you cannot have love without respect.

.

what she did like most of the others, was not rational. The conversation she ended up having with Shelby as a result, could have happened in private and she would have gotten an understanding, instead of attacking your ex bandmate in front of people. Don't slap my face in public based on a feeling and then apologize in private, and think the relationship will be good here on out.
.
They don't get a pass to go off on people and expect to be respected. Respect is a 2 way street. If this was 1985, what would she do then? No FBook or twitter or instagram or even email.
She would take it old school; either shut her mouth or make a call "hey can we talk"

Same for all the other going off on FB creating havoc. And if it isn't your business then move on and take care of your business. And it makes women look bad, because as far as I see so far it is just women running off at the mouth attacking others. That is not Love4OneAnother 4 sure.

Yes, I and I know they are grown women who should be in control of themselves, but the so called fans or followers who get on their page and edge her/them on is pathetic. Almost like they are using these ladies platform to lash out at whoever they don't like. The same thing happened to me. Some trollish org fans.

I saw the same thing happen to Cat. People would just say all kinds of stuff to try to get her riled up, because they liked see her get riled up. Yet didn't realized how that affected her health. No one who cares about you wants to see you get angry or riled up and make a fool of you publicly.

That's true, Sal. I guess it's hard to have an opinion on here without hurting people's feelings sometimes if they're reading.
We could all be a little kinder in how we say things.
Although Prince told Larry King he can't make anyone feel anything. And that's true too.
I think everyone has days they're more sensitive, esp some of the associates over this last year.

Now I respect Jill Jones' honesty very much but I also think a better word than "p-ssing" could've been used. I know there's a gentle woman under all that bravado.

Really? Why? The initial sales of her album are most likely going to come from Prince fans and there's ton of them in the Twin Cities right now. She's did a meet and greet CD signing in Chanhassen yesterday and is doing another one tomorrow because she couldn't accommodate everyone. She's meeting fans, taking pictures with them, sharing her love and music. She's not sniping from the sidelines on social media. I know which I prefer.

This is what she posted on Twitter:

What exactly does she mean with the hashtags #gotyourback and #justice4cuz? Does she think Prince was murdered or that someone should be in jail?

That's my take on it also. Seems like to me she was interviewed, and probably no doubt asked about her participation and instead of talking in circles, being vague or politically correct; she spoke her truth and her opinion. It's hard for me to follow sometimes: who's allowed/permitted to speak their truth? Kim Berry just stated how Prince could have used having some real people in his life, but when people speak their minds, some seem to have an issue. I love her voice and appreciate her expressing her honest opinion.

Honestly, Rogifan? This interview deserves its own thread.
I Cried a little at the end when her daughter Olivia, who has a GREAT little voice sang SISIApril, but I also laughed and smiled HUGE smiles for the first time in the past 3 days.
Once again, I see Prince had some great people around him. She is a funny person.
Thank you SO much Elisa for this GREAT, informative interview. pray hug

That #justice4cuz is something that Chazz started with. I am not clear on what it's supposed to be about because I think it's provided a way for him to keep himself in the news and in front of the cameras more than anything else lol aka another coat-tail rider.
