Blame it on Vanity: relevant content?

The book looks like a mess, what are the concise Princely points of interest?

Wasn't the book's narrative about her life and times specifically (although, w/o the Prince connection, don't think she would have ever gotten the roles, etc., as her acting was quite....well, she was at "B level" when they met, correct?)? So, no need to bring up her brief time spent with Prince. I have not read it and have no desire to. I used to be curious about her until some of the threads have popped up recently that are over the top about her association with Prince. Some are really exaggerating a very small window of time in her life and insinuating a very superficial relationship was much, much more than history shows.

Why start off with such disparaging remarks about her? Why does it intimidate you if someone should bring her up? That is a very ignorant statement. It's not all about you. Maybe other people would like to speak on this topic...

This was a book about her journey to Christ. Vanity was offered millions to write a tell all book about Prince, but because of her faith in God and loyalty and respect to Prince, she did not. Check out "other books" if you want the tea on Prince. This book doesn't have the dirt that either of you are looking for. Blame it on Vanity is not for you..

That seems to be the norm for the org these days... razz

I apologize for involving you in my rant. Just got a little irritated at the insulting reply aimed towards Vanity and your post. Going back over my reply, I see I took it out on you a little as well. Nothing wrong with you wanting to know what Vanity has said about Prince. I probably shouldn't have said this book isn't for you because It's actually for everyone. It's a short book about Denise Matthews life, her struggles as an abused child, and how she lost her way getting too caught up in trying to be a star and being in the arms of Prince, but eventually finding her way in the arms of the Lord instead. Although I wouldn't get too excited on the "Prince" part because that section is only touched upon briefly and spoken of in vague terms. Nothing solicitous. You certainly get the picture, but not the movie, lol lol. Definitely not a tell all book. Not even close. It's more about finding God. It's a book that makes you think so I wouldn't say it's an easy read. You have to have the patience for it. If I have the time this weekend, I'll try to post a few Princely points for you if you are still interested and I didn't chase you away... boxed

This book is available on her estate's Facebook page. Although I'm not sure if it's the same one as the first release that was out of print. https://m.facebook.com/de...2&__tn__=C

Beautifully stated, luvgirl. Denise Matthews sounds like someone I wish I could have known. I'll check the website for the information on the book. I thought that it was still out-of-print ...Thank you! biggrin

I'm old school so Vanity was THE P gal of my early P fandom.

I always liked her.

They both intertwined throughout the years, right up until his last concert.
He only talked about her and spoke openly of his feeling for her. Her last facebook post was of Prince and the jellyfish too.

Agree. Even the timing of that was creepy, like a warning?

interesting... I wonder if that estate page is ran by Roxanne Harper and the others? Its weird how they used the pic of Denise as Vanity from The Last Dragon era, when you know how they tried to erase that part of her life in some way.

i always found it funny how Denise would also pick and choose which photos of Vanity she would use as well. She would always pick the ones of her that were HOT as hell, but not sexy and vamped up. She knew what she was doing, and I love it. smile

u got me under the influence.

Yes, I think the estates page is connected with Roxanne Harper. I did notice the beautiful classy pictures Denise would choose. They were always beautiful and tasteful.
