206Michelle said: I wrote this on the The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince Book Club: Part 2 thread: http://prince.org/msg/5/440644. . I've made a couple of slight alterations because I don't know if everyone viewing this thread has read the Mayte's book, The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince. . I was sitting in church 2 days ago for Holy Thursday Mass and the following thoughts came to my mind. I hope none of these are offensive to anyone. I want to get them off of my chest. . I am grateful that Mayte shared about she and 's beloved son, Amiir. Given that I have been reading Mayte's book The Most Beautiful, as I was sitting in church, trying to focus on Mass, my mind kept wandering to , Mayte, and Amiir, as it has been recently in various places (not just at church). And thinking about Amiir, and the fact that he only lived for 6 days, his story reminded me to appreciate my life. Sometimes, it's easy to become caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and forget that life is a precious gift. . We are all given 1 life. Amiir's life lasted all of 6 days. Prior to 's death, we knew very little about he and Mayte's beloved son, not even his name. We knew him only as "Boy Gregory," that he had Pfeiffer Syndrome type 2, that he was born on 10/16/1996 to Mayte and , that he lived for 6 days, that implied that the song "Comeback" was about his son, and a few other things. For 20 years, he didn't have much of an identity; he was like a John Doe. . By sharing about Amiir publicly and describing him in her book, Mayte has given new life to him in a way, by giving him (a) an identity and (b) a legacy. . She started giving him an identity months ago, after our beloved Prince died, when she shared Amiir's name publicly for the first time. With this book, I feel that she has also given her son a legacy. . When I talk about legacy, here is what I mean: . * was so overjoyed to be a father to Amiir that he put his heartbeat on the track "Sex in the Summer." . * As Mayte writes in her book, Amiir Nelson brought out the best in his daddy. His daddy was a man who is one of the greatest musicians to ever live and whom millions of people adore. Yet during his short life, Amiir brought out a level of devotion and unconditional love from his father, Prince , that was unique, that Prince never showed to anyone else. . * wrote songs about Amiir, 2 of which have been released ("Comeback" and "Until U're in My Arms Again"). . * was so devastated by Amiir's death that never publicly acknowledged that Amiir was gone. . * Amiir's loss was so devastating that it was a major reason why and Mayte divorced. . * The loss of Amiir ultimately led Mayte to adopt Gia. . Considering that he only lived 6 days, that's a pretty significant legacy to have. . We all want to leave a legacy. We all want to know that our lives are meaningful and important. Amiir never had the chance to contemplate these issues, because he died as an infant. His father, so heartbroken over Amiir's death, never spoke the name Amiir publicly and never publicly acknowledged that Amiir had died. So Mayte is the only person who could give him an identity and a legacy. And she has. . It wasn't easy for her to give her son the gifts of an identity and a legacy because giving him these gifts meant that she had to SACRIFICE by re-living the unspeakable pain that came from his death and its aftermath. I applaud her for making that sacrifice, and thereby giving Amiir an identity and a legacy because he EXISTED and his life MATTERED. . If I had a time machine, I would bring both Amiir and his father back to life, but I can't. They are both dead. But the only reason we know Amiir's identity and his legacy is because of his mother, Mayte. . May God rest the soul of Amiir Nelson and his father Prince Rogers Nelson.
[Edited 4/15/17 21:17pm] It is ballzy and another slap in princes face for you to suggest that maytes book gives identity and legacy to his son. Princes sons life had meaning and legacy before mayte wrote her book, and before you or anyone read it.

The only person on HE who had some real $$ was Andrea Kelly Net Worth: $40 Million. The other women had $3-6M, with children, and they seemed to make it work.
Mayte Garcia Net Worth: $2.5 Million Mayte Garcia is an exotic beauty who began dancing professionally at the age of 8! Her mother eventually submitted a video audition to music superstar Prince who instantly hired her to join his European tour. She married Prince in 1996. I have to agree with this assessment. The hate is on another level for me. Damn. People are creating hateful IG pages centered around Mayte?? Really? If she's that irrevleant then why are people going to such extremes? I read the book too. I saw it as her closure. Some see it differently but unfortunately for them they weren't married to Prince. They didn't have his baby. Mayte's voice is the only one that matters so she was asked to tell her story. There 2 sides to a story. (some say 3) She's entitled to tell her story just like any of us. MY ex isn't going to tell me I can't write about him if I write an autobiography. I mean what gives him the right to tell me I can't write MY story. Mayte was just as much a part of the story as Prince was. So she writes the book and people wanna read it. So what. The people who don't spew hate and venom which makes them even worse then what they claim Mayte is in my opinion. Mayte could have said A LOT more than she did. She could've probably made multi-millions off this book. But instead she kept most of the stuff private and took the high road. The book is well done and respectful of everyone. She even compliments Mani after Mani acknowledges and APOLOGIZES for being a homewrecker. And it's not like most fans didn't know about Mani and a lot of the other stuff in the book anyway. All Mayte did was confirm the stuff really for most fans. So again I don't get why the fire keeps growing.

At the end of the day, none of these people have an impact on my life, nor do I have one on theirs so "hating" or "stanning" is a waste of time. Is it the same as you, anonymous person whose autobiography would be read by 3 or 4 family members and a couple of friends, vs. a public icon? No. Never will be unless you do something extrodinary with your life. As for her book, there are a lot of inconsistencies and contradictions within it that she doesn't explain or elaborate on. She brings up things that are rumors, deflects any responsibility in the marriage for her actions, and blames outside forces for "destroying" it while at the same time justifying it with "closure". I would have been more sympathetic to her if she had written about the lessons she learned about herself and relationships, in general, and how she moved on with her life using those lessons.
