Anyone finished Mayte's book.? Can we discuss it? I know there's a book club running, but for anyone who's finished the book can we talk about it here?
Just to keep it spoiler free in case the answer's no, I really enjoyed the book and think it is a respectful, loving account of a major era in prince's life and career that really humanises him in a way no other account has. I don't follow the drama that seems to surround Mayte at the moment (there is a lot of negative posts on the org?) but i am glad she wrote this and shared a significant part of her life with us. It is well writen and compelling, i blitzed it in one session because of the easy conversational style, and Mayte is both mature and reflective on what those years meant for her and her life. As someone who boarded the prince train in 1991 it was fascinating to see a rare perspective on that era and it brought back happy memories of the 3 chains of gold project and how that seemed to come together. She doesn't pull any punches with regards to the end of the marriage either but whilst Larry and the JW crowd are crticised she remains respectful of their faith - it just wasn't for her. It will be interesting to see other reactions to the end of the book as she seems to align with the opinion of most contemporary fans to the proselytising of 1998 era. Anyhow, if this thread is allowed, look forward to discussing things, and if not, I won't! | |
