I love that lyric about the last Parade show in Japan, where he said "Beautiful" after "Sometimes It Snows In April".

A poignant and sweet lament to the end of a time in one's life. And what a way to start adult life, as Wendy did, just out of high school 2 months before, then playing a show at First Avenue with Prince and his band, then being thrust into two tours, TV appearances, a movie, two soundtracks, and writing and production.

Upon first listening, immediately one would not know the reference. This song is more poignant and deep because of your insight. I appreciate the song more. Thank you for sharing your thoughts TrivialPursuit.

I do think the casual listener (not fans like you and I) wouldn't get those references, for sure. Not everyone knows the great stories that we know. But knowing W&L, you had to sort of expect there to be at least one song about the whole thing their debut record.

While that first verse is more pointed toward the last concert, the other one about her singing songs to him is more personal, IMO. W&L both talked so much about how they loved Prince, and he loved them, and how close they were in those times.

My absolute favorite Wendy & Lisa song of all time. I've had it on one playlist or another since the record first came out. I think I was in college when I first got it,used to blast it in my dorm apartment. Never fails to move, that one. Still good to this day and brings back a lot of memories of my youth.
