Damn, people why does every good thread have to turn negative. We need to drudge up his homophobic past in 2000 when discussing a reunion in 2014? --When obviously the previous homophobia had faded and been forgiven by the parties involved... Then even after the dude (who shit-stirred the argument with a vague reference to some kind of scandal that stopped the more recent reunion) confirmed that Wendy and Lisa's orientation had nothing to do with it, its brought up again.
And once again, stop using the straw man argument that P was not perfect...DUH times 1 million.
YOu folks are putting me in a bad mood... |

The org has been this way since 1998 when I came on here of bickering and fan battles after a positive thread made, so get use to it. And yes that same year when people were going war with Prince vs Wendy/Lisa fans right after Wendy claimed she and Lisa wrote Purple and Prince later dissed them on his official website. The war last several weeks and it also spilled onto Google Groups and I think Housequake (before the social media era) and people were banned left and right. So the Mayte drama aint nothing compared to that.
As a high schooler at the time, I was enjoying that.
So I don't know what else to tell ya. When the org gets too hot I step back, but hey I am still here. |

What turned the thread negative is when said Person said take several seats & don't comment. Well.....#1)I was seated when i wrote it (Hey-a play on words) and, #2)I DIDN'T COMMENT!!! I just said I know another reason why it didn't!! I didn't make it negative......

The statements made by Wendy regarding P wanting her to renounce her lesbian ways and Jewish faith is in the Oral History article by the Star Tribune from 2004.

And the subsequent re-associations and forgiveness are also mentioned in the same article.
Wendy 2004...
We finally got shuffled off to this room where there wasn’t a seat for us. He called a whole bunch of people onstage but didn’t call any of us. I thought, “Well, that’s it.” His wife introduced herself, and I told her to thank him for the tickets and goodbye.
Then the next day, I get this call: “Prince would like you to come and rehearse with him on acoustic guitar for `The Tavis Smiley Show’ he’s doing.” Curiosity got the best of me. I went down, and he was remarkably kind and open, and gave me a huge hug. He had me sit in with his band, and I hung with him for two hours.
The next day, it was just him and me, and he was gorgeous. He was the guy I knew when I first met him. He was the guy who spent the night at my and Lisa’s house on our pullout bed. I held on to him and kept kissing him and hugging him and telling him I loved him. I don’t know what to think of it. He knows we all love him.

Fucking Larry Graham. I know Prince is no saint, but goddamn what pull did that dude have on Prince? To go from having a multitude of people in his bands to requiring those same people to change who they are. I remember watching Prince, Chaka Khan, Mayte and Larry on Sinbad and everytime that guy talked, Prince was glued to every word. Same thing with Larry King when Larry talked. . Well, I have to say Prince couldn't have been too anti-semitic if he was on Larry King and was Neal Karlen's pen pal at times. But that stupid requirement for being in his band...disgraceful. No wonder Wendy thought they had lost Prince (her words). YOu get the feeling she knew what was going on with Prince and his loss? --thus the reason she and Bobby were so forgiving.
[Edited 3/19/17 23:56pm]
Larry G is some else and other than his bass I dont care for him as a person because he wouldnt think highly of me based on his religion becuase I am a queer. But I am going to say one good thing positive about him: He made Prince feel less angry and Prince was on some angry trip in the 80s and 90s. And P even said around the 2000s he wasn't always feeling angry like he had in the past. While some fans abandoned P when he became JW, I remained his fan like a true soldier that I am even though I didnt always agree with P's decisions. I watched his performance on youtube. I watched his performance that he did Welcome to Australia tour on youtube feature Chuck D and Shelby J, and it teared me up but he was enjoying the time of his life. He was relaxed, looked healthy, and chilling. Now years later we all dealing this shit of a loss.
Larry wasn't the best influence, because he was trying to change Prince in sort of a persuasive way rather than organically, but I believe he made Prince relaxing and more vibrate. But please dont take I am taking up for Larry because I have issues with him of dealt with Prince. And from the way it looks I am wondering does P's family and members of P camp does too.
As for the Revolution, I checked on Wendy and Lisa twitterpage and W/L said awhile back that they had fun times with Prince even if they werent always good. So I think they are going to take the good and bad with Prince. Not so sure about Larry.
[Edited 3/20/17 0:55am]
I choose not to give Larry Graham ANY credit for any "positive" change that could have occurred from Prince being a JW, instead I choose to think that it was just his being more in tune with the Bible and maybe fellowship with other believers like him. Graham POUNCED on him when he was at his lowest point and HOUNDED him until he gave in and joined that cult. He gets zero respect from me. I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said. |

I'm going to assume there is some Prince/Mani/Eric drama that is causing these reactions?
I think, we have to take into account that everyone might not be up on the romances of Prince and any drama that follows. I personally just read a little bit of stuff on the Prince/Mani relationship since he passed, but outside of her working for Paisley Park, know not much about the Mani + Prince marriage/divorce. It is highly possible Brown Mark knows nothing of it either. |

Hey I was vocal about Larry Graham when around 2000s because of his openly rumor issues with the queer community. I still dont care for him as a person but I am going to continue to give him props for being a badass bass and I wasn't one of those that banned Prince after he became JW as I watched Prince looked relax and happy like he was enjoying life after 2000s. Prince didn't act like he had a chip over his shoulder like he did in the 80s/90s/ Like Prince, I know how to compartiized people as I can dislike their ways but I can respect their talents and goodness.
I also don't agree that Larry forced Prince into that religion as Prince was a control freak himself. Prince seemed like he enjoyed Larry's company. Again I am stating facts, not taking up for LG.
We agree to disagree. |

I guess the word out in the gossip columns is Eric 'allegedly' had an affair with Manuella
.
A lot of male fans probably don't know a lot about that.
. I suspect BrownMark isn't 'into' Prince's life like that (true or not) all we know is Eric was married to Halle Berry from 2001-2005. And Manuela was married to Prince in the same time period. |

not really. I depends on what aspects of life people are interested in. I barely knew anything about their relationship. And didn't really care to dig any deeper into it.
A person would have to dig deeper and care to ask more questions into 'why' Prince & Manuella or Prince & Mayte got divorced. I didn't read anything about Prince's divorce from Mayte either until last year. And in an interview from 1999/2000 it was Prince saying in so many words, there are other women out there. I doubt Brown Mark get's into all the girl/guy stuff in Princeland. |

sexton is another along with TonyVandam that proves a lot of people (fans) probably just aren't into it like that. Yes of course people will know Mani is Prince's ex as people know Mayte is Prince's ex. But that doesn't mean they know or cared to know why they got divorced.
.
Like there are Prince fans that don't know a lot about unreleased music/albums/projects and even some released albums. I think if anything Prince fans should know about the music.
.
Mani wasn't a protege, band member or another celeb, so I don't think a lot of people would be into checking into her, because she wasn't so connected to the outward Prince scene or the Prince scenes that were more exciting. |

It was also confirmed by Wendy. She said Prince wanted her to denounce being a lesbian and her half-Jewish heritage. She was ready to cut ties with him for good but they made up years later and did that performance on Tavis Smiley. Bobby Z, who is also Jewish said he was nearby Larry and Prince and they were saying bad stuff about gay and Jewish people. If true, I think Bobby Z since had forgave Larry because they continue to communicate somewhat as Bobby did a radio interview with him around 2012. I am not sure if Bobby Z still tight with Larry now. But Bobby don't seem the type to hold forever grudges.
