You have a source for your rumor? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It was in some article that is out to promote her book. I think the diagnosis is recent, very recent. I don't remember which article, it maybe in the people or some health magazine. But I have read in the last 2 days or so. Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Thank You Prince | |

Depending on how severe the case is, a person can still enjoy alcohol in moderation. There are different levels to the disease where ranging from people with limited movement aility to those on the lighter end of the spectrum who can live a relatively active lifestyle with the aid of medication. But thankfully, it's not a death sentence where every individual has to cut out everything.

It was in the second to last paragraph of the People magazine article online, so if you read it and it's still there, it appears your question has been answered already.
. .
I wish her the best on her health journey. I am intimately familiar with this disease and send out prayers and well wishes for her as she transitions into making some adjustments in lifestyle. The good news is that it's not a fatal condition, and for those who fall on the lighter side of the MS spectrum, they can continue to live highly active, thriving lives, they'll just have to learn how to pace themselves and have a healthy work-life balance with as little stress as possible to avoid onset of fatigue episodes (which are a bitch). For those that fall into that catagory, having that healthy balance coupled with proper medication (usually Copaxone by injection), and a good neurologist on deck are key to unlocking the most potential you can get out of life while you traverse the illness. I know what it's like to care for a loved one with this illness, so I wish her calmness, patience, strength and vitality and encourage her or anyone else to not be fearful when they are faced with this. Again, it's not a death sentence, but life will change in some ways.
. .
I am happy to say that in my family we took part in a medical study and test about 3 years ago that will hopefully make a new treatment available to the public in a few years. In the case of my loved one, the effects were outstanding. But, these things take time of course, when it comes to testing and approving new medicines in the pharmaceutical industry. In the meantime, there are solid, longstanding medicines available to help for now, and more good news is that the injectibles that patients used to have to take daily have now been improved upon so that they only have to have shots 3 times a week. There are definite life changes about to take place for Mayte to be sure, but, as long as she's not in the realm of more severe diagnosis, she really will be fine. There will be some times when her body feels like it will be betraying her terribly, but those episodes will eventually pass. Low stress and a good support system of loved ones and medical team are crucial and will make the physical valleys easier to endure (and eventually make your way out of).

Its multiple sclerosis. That is what MS stands for. Talk show host Montell Williams has this too.
I read in People she has early stages. I hope it doesn't get worse.

Richard Pryor also had MS. He and Annette Funicello were among some of the first entertainers I remember going public with the disease, and acting as Ambassadors on behalf of the MS Society. This from the National MS Society website:
