Sign O' The Times, Nina Simone version Anyone know who wrote the orchestral arrangement?

i don't have a clue but all due respect for the genius of Nina, she sounds ridiculous on this song, about as ridiculous as prince would sound if he tried to rap NWA. Sometimes the styles of genres can't overlap. She sounds more foghorn leghorn than anything else on this song. Hate to be critical of a giant like Nina.

I don't think she sounds great vocally on this song but you have to admit that the orchestral arrangement is pretty amazing.

Agreed, musically it's a bit off. But otherwise thematically it suits her well. She's always been very critical of the world around her, but also calling on others - and herself - to make it a better place for everyone. All the while recognising that that is a heck of a task for us humans. So in that sense, it's a great song for her. I hope she's got a lot more peace and calm now than she seemed to have when she was on this earth.

I'll listen to it again, it wasn't the arrangement that got my attention the first time.

ya, it's not bad alot busier than the sparseness of prince's version. It sounds to me just like Claire Fischer's work.
