I love the insight Eric provides, and all of the great anecdotes. I also love that he kept of journal of all the recording sessions. I do hope he writes a book one day.

I find it interesting that he seems to take a little pride in being unbothered or unimpressed by things he did with Prince. He references his jazz background quite bit as the reasoning for not being particularly impressed. But saying things like, "I sleepwalked through the Lovesexy tour...can't remember a thing about it," or "I didn't like the SOTT tour...the stage was too high."

IDK...I get more from hearing about what he liked and why he thought it was special. It's like, we get it, you're a jazz snob, and were/are far more musically capable than what working with Prince required, but you were apart of something that many of us non-jazz snobs/Prince-heads revere. It doesn't sound "cool" to suggest things like SOTT and Lovesexy weren't all that great in your eyes, or that all you can remember about the tours was how boring the production rehearsals were, especially when many of us feel like those were some of his best moments ever.

Sounds rather unappreciative. NOt all jazz musicians are snobs (see the brilliant Miles Davis). Very few people would know his name if it were not for Prince. The irony of him doing this interview in the first place.
