Go Maceo! Go Maceo! I saw Maceo Parker perform tonight for the first time with his band... I had seen him perform with Prince but never on his own. Great concert, tight band, and enough funk to get down like James Brown. . Judith Hill opened and she played several songs from the album she made with Prince--wonderful on just the piano with vocals. At the end she sang with Maceo and the band--wonderful. Maceo's set was introduced with Prince's Let's Go Crazy and he gave tribute to "our Purple Friend" as well as James Brown (of course), George Clinton, and Ray Charles. That was my NYE concert since I have to work tomorrow. Go Maceo! Go Maceo! Keep on passin' the peas!

great post purplethunder3121I'll be seeing Maceo at the Dakota Jazz Club on February 13th. He always puts on a great show! I've seen him a number of times before with his own band and with Prince. | |
