If there's no engagement ring, it don't mean a thing....

Why should she stop talking about it? I would like it if Susan stopped talking about Star Fish and Coffee.

I agree. This whole engagement/proposal thing seems blown out of proportion for me. And he was seeing other women anyway. Obviously P and Sheila had a deep connection and a beautiful friendship for over 35 years, as well as making some great music together. I just wish the focus was more on that relationship than what comes across as exaggerated gossip.

-- She wrote about their relationship in her book. It is not gossip since she is the one that put the info out to the public.

And her book came out when Prince was alive! So I would bet he knew she wrote about it. It wasn't the biggest part of her book. I think she wrote the book to get out her child sexual assault history to try to help others dealing with the same thing. When she travels to new places that's what the papers will pick up on because Prince sells.

-- Exactly, Prince only comprised about 20 percent of the book and she did not trash him or go into intimate details.

And I would like it if you quit calling her Susan when her name is Susannah.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Do you think this is going to happen?

I'm trying to figure out, at this point does it matter who he popped the question to? I mean if it wasn't followed up with the main event then it's pretty much a moot point. I mean it's nice to know that the relationship(s) was/were serious enough it/they could have been more but still it never made it to the finish line. I guess if it was one of those on and off things that lasted for decades that would be a curious thing, I'd be noisy about but outside of that...it's a nice little tidbit, but to keep it going for months on end is getting...

-- I don't think she is the one keeping it going. It is the media taking a small tidbit from her book and running with it. I don't see Sheila E walking around with a sign on her head. The media ask and she answers the question.

I really should stay clear of these "who he loved more" threads, sometimes I can't help myself.

SoulAlive

In those days,Prince wasn't really serious about marrying anybody.I think he played alot of mind games with these ladies.Just ask Susannah Melvoin and Nona Gaye, two women who also believed that Prince was gonna marry them.It wasn't until 1996 when he finally became serious about marriage.

Yes I know it was in her book, yes I know P was still alive, yes I know its not gossip but that's the way I think it's coming across! I've known people do things like that, mouth marry me etc and it wasn't a serious proposal and with the absence of a ring this seems the same kind of thing. As for the press keeping it going not her, she could always decline to answer? No? I wonder why. She's been in the industry long enough to know what will get her publicity.

She would look like a ass hat if she refused to answer since it is in her book and do you think the publicity is going to get her record sales? eek

I wonder why no one goes after Susan Melvoin since she claims she was engaged to Prince.

Kind of makes you wonder

Nona and Prince were at the same time as Mayte. They had a huge fight and she left him when she saw Mayte's engagement ring at a concert. I believe Prince loved all these women. He just couldn't get the forever part to work!

I agree. She's traveling a lot and talks to alot of different media. She's in different cities and it's not her fault the all want to know the same thing. She's not talking about it all over her social media sites. She's not telling anything that wasn't in her book and I have a feeling there's a lot more she could tell!
