I *love* getting into in-depth conversations. It's one of the reasons that I used to mainly stay on politics and religion forum, because I could get those in-depth conversations and debates. We used to be able to have those discussions without the name calling and things getting personal. If you don't agree with me, I have no problem with that. We all have our own thoughts about things and have had our own experiences that have helped to shape those thoughts. And you hit the nail right on the head, "can't have constructive discussion with anyone who disagrees with their point of view". That is what I am seeing a lot of and when you have a differing opinion they do call you a "hater" or a group of them begin hopping into the discussion and being hateful. It makes having those discussions less than, well, desirable/fun. There is definitely a lack of respect going on around here and that is what makes me consider why I still keep coming back. My only answer to the "why" is out of habit and being around others who understand the feelings of pain and grief at Prince's ... leaving us. It's just disheartening to me. And a lot of times you see that disrespect directed towards people who aren't even here to defend themselves or to deny the allegations folks make or to even care whether these people are saying mean things about them (ie Prince's ex-lovers and wives). In those situations I think people are saying mean things just out of the spitefulness of their heart and because they know they can get away with it.

Fortunately, moderators have intervened and deleted several of the worst comments. I think some people tend to forget that she is somebody's daughter, mother, etc and just bash her and its sad. I don't care if you don't like her. You don't threaten someone's life. I would hate for Gia to get online one day and come across the nasty stuff that was said about her mom. I like Mayte and I think she's sweet and that makes me sad that people were threating her life. Cowards.
