For as close as he claimed to be with Prince, he's no where to be found. Alllll these other friends, family members, past band members, etc etc....are still speaking out, performing at tributes, giving interviews and sharing their love of Prince. Yet Larry Graham is no where? I just think it's strange. And from what I understand, the Tribute Concert on the 13th, was coordinated a lot by Prince's family. Did they even ask Larry to show up, make a statement...anything!?!? I have a feeling some blame is being placed on him. (as it should be in my opinion).

Larry was actually one of the very first people alongside Morris to pay Tribute at the Autism Rocks concerts where he was clearly moved. e paid a beautiful, loving tribute. I think, sadly we often forfet that Prince was a friend as well as an Icon and everyone handles grief differently. Larry paid a Beautiful tribute.
As far as blame, I really have no idea what you mean.
Blame..... as far as him having Prince so involved in the JW stuff that he wouldn't do the surgery that was possibly needed. And instead relied on pain pills. It's all just speculation. But if true, I do blame Larry Graham a little. A good friend that had as much influence on Prince as he seemed to have....would have steered him in the direction of health and well-being....and put aside the religion aspect of things.
It does seem curious that he (LG) wasn't present at the big tribute concert this last week...Chaka was there, wasn't she? .
It just seems as though, one minute LG was flavour of the month with P - and then, just as suddenly, he had disappeared from the scene...Remember, P used to have LG not just out on stage with him but present and contributing to interviews, all sorts!
. I suppose P just moved on with the style of music he was producing, and the level of involvement he had in certain other artists' recording careers. Maybe, also, his fanaticism around the JW faith lessened? Certainly, in his latter years it seems as though he was exploring other philosophies / ideas around religion and spirituality...
. I'd also say that this moving on / letting go behaviour wasn't unusual with P. He seemed to be one of those who would fall head over heels in love with people / ideas - and then, just as quickly, he'd (dare I say) grow bored; the passion would be extinguished, and he'd focus on something (someone) new.
.
That's not to say he fell out with LG, just that maybe he 'outgrew' him? .
Some time ago - it may have been here or on FB - I made a comment about LG being on Prince's payroll. LG moved his family to Minnesota to be near Prince, he remained in the inner circle for several years. I don't think he was that well-off that he could uproot his life and start over in Minnesota. I assumed Prince paid for the move and then supported him, if you will, over the years. Well, I was pounced on by posters who said this was not the case. Does anyone know if he was an employee or recipient of financial support?

The only thing that I have been able to uncover thus far is that P relocated LG and his family from Jamacia I believe it was, to MN. P provided the family a home to live in. (one of his properties for sale).

Nope. Prince bounced Larry from that house and leveled it not too much longer than his own on Galpin.

Larry was a very pivotal figure in Prince's life and I think it's important to remember that he had a lot to do with Prince being able to get through some rough times. Larry is the one who laid out the Bible in a way Prince could identify with. That is the greatest gift someone can give you, is God.
It does seem as though later Prince expanded his beliefs to add eastern philosophies and who knows what else. But I think he also kept his JW faith.
Our teachers aren't meant to be there forever. Prince had many different phases of his life.
It was Prince's decision not to have a replacement for whatever reason. We don't KNOW what thag reason was. It cold be that he felt it was too risky for some medical purpose or somethinf else.
What I do know is that I saw an interview with Larry and he seemed REALLY cut up. The guy is grieving big time because that was his little brother and he loved him. [Edited 10/17/16 16:32pm]

Prince performed with Larry at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2013:

Prince had many different phases of his life. However I do want to say that Elisa from the NPG says on her FB page on the day the coroners report was issued that she saw what she felt was people pushing religion on Prince at PP. She was angry about the findings of pain medications. Then she looked into it and found that JWs are allowed to have surgery. It was Prince's decision not to have a replacement for whatever reason. We don't KNOW what thag reason was. It cold be that he felt it was too risky for some medical purpose or somethinf else. You are right in saying that JWs are in fact allowed to have surgery, but they do not allow blood transfusions, which would have been most probably needed for a hip replacement. As mentioned on the ME report issued on June 2, P had a scar on his left hip. It was probably left by surgery that P supposedly had around 2010 and that surely did not need blood transfusions.
I am here! Where R U?! Gotta broken heart again...

Billy Sparks said he did not have hip replacement surgery. He had hip surgery in 2010. Check out these alternatives to hip replacment below. None of which are full proof. If he has any of these procedures he would have been under pain management. You can also use your own blood for transfusions so that is not that big of a deal.

Around 2011 I chatted with someone that would not give me her name but I believed that she truly was an insider. She didn't say anything radical. She had said that he did have the surgery about that time. I know of someone else, personally, that had the surgery. She was a dance teacher who failed to give the hips time to properly heal after surgery. She ended up needing it again.
I had gone to many JW meetings. The witnesses make their members feel that they are disobeying God all mighty by having blood transfusions. Some bank their own blood before surgery, yet even that is controversial. It is a very strict religion that I am not sure if he was on good standing with. Interesting to note that he always spoke of it yet never left a will stating that he wanted to give some of his money to his congregation. Larry also will not be recieving any money due to not being mentioned in a will. Odd, given that they spoke of eachother as if they were life long family of choice.
There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

I would think it's just too much for him right now--being they were really close on a personal level (assumingly). All these tributes all over the place, the quickness with the PP opened for visits, women acting like they were lovers, babymamas and widows of Prince, people staking claim on his fortune and acres, family members saying some skeptical stuff to the media... A complete circus. I wouldn't blame anyone he was close to if they were still silent at this point.
That is the greatest gift someone can give you, is God.
.
Not to derail this discussion, but this is very offensive. The greatest gift you can give someone is to have them think logically. That god is a manmade construct that does not explain anything and only complicates interaction between people and is therefor detrimental is the logical conclusion you will get to on your own after that.
This god tripe is old, baloney, annoying and offensive.
It's a shame Prince never figured it out in his lifetime.

Congratulations! You just answered offensive with offensive!
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
If it weren't for P's relationship with God, we would have never had him and he never would've gotten past certain things in life, or had been the giver he was and all that He was. We don't know the reason he didn't have those hips replaced. Could've been anything.
Why do you care what Larry is doing? Most of you dissed him for BEING around, then he's not around when you think he should be you give him crap. The ultimate in passive aggressiveness.
From what I can see by a simple Google search, he has been touring a bit.

You're right. It was a crazy question to ask. His gravy train just came to a complete hault when Prince passed...... so now he's done and probably off too find someone else to mooch off of. There. I said it. Just my personal opinion.

That's right. The same with Prince. Dissed him when he was alive but can't stop talking about him now and crying.

Larry was playing with Sly and Family Stone in 1966 and you think Larry was mooching off Prince? I adore Prince but Larry was around for a long time and I vcery much doubt he has many financial problems. He doesn't strike me as a particularly decadent type of guy. he really can't win, if you don't look for him and don't find him people say he is missing. When he pays tribute he is mooching off Prince. Larry is doing what it seems he has always done, enjoying playing music and performing at concerts. He's 70 years old, the fact he is still playing suggests he just loves music.

I don't Know if Larry mooch off of Prince. People seem to think so. Larry been in the industry for years. I have heard of people being in the industy for years and don't have a lot of money. I don't think that's the case with Larry. People don't like Larry because of JW thing. That's their problem, not Prince or Larry's.
