I'd love to discuss with you guys. I pre-ordered it as well. When I was talking with Mayte about it in MPLS after the tribute concert, she said it's a story of female empowerment and a love story. There's no "tell-all" about it. It was very clear that she never stopped loving him and had no resentment or animosity toward him. I told her I always believed they were soulmates and she nodded and quietly said she did too. Unfortuntely, soulmates don't always end up together forever in this world. I believe they both understood that eventually.

She is quite the woman. I too, preordered the book. Your statement above tugged at my heart.

Sadly, life happens. I honestly do not understand the animosity towards her. A very real, kind soul.

People change and change their minds. He also matured and grew spiritually. It can't be said that he didnt feel differently about the situation over time in his heart and mind and chose to leave the situation as it was. As in why stir the pot? Perhaps not having contact with her was his peace with the situation and vice versa. Best for both to leave it alone. We don't know how he felt. As the RS magazine last interview article said about him and forgiveness, he may have forgiven Mayte and himself for his part by then.

I totally agree. Another thing, didn't Prince think his son was going to return? I think this was a 2013 or 2014 interview. Or was it that same interview you're talking about? It's possible Mayte didn't have the same beliefs as P. She spent a lot of years coming to terms and grieving their son's death but I'm thinking P probably didn't feel he should grieve when he thought his son was going to return. Assumingly.

.

I agree. I think Prince was in a totally different place, spiritually when he lost his Son. It's seems as though Mayte did not convert over to JW, so not sure if that was an issue.

.

I have read conflicting stories regarding their marriage. I can't imagine the emotional pain they went through after the loss of their son, and then a miscarriage. Mayte was so young. Prince had a ceremony and said his "good-byes" to his Son. That was undoubtedly the hardest thing he ever had to do. I think after so much heartbreak, their marriage was irrevocably broken.

.

Prince was the kind of person, that once he moves on, that's it--he doesn't go back to former loves/wives, etc. I know Mayte was hurt when he shut her out, but I don't think Prince was the heartless person as some people make him out to be. I'm not sure if this is true, but I read that they had an open marriage. Prince was seeing other people and so was she.

.

I don't think Prince was insensitive over the loss of his son; he just had a different way of dealing with it. And like you said, Prince believed that his son would come back. Now, he's in heaven with him.

.

It's just such a sad story. Prince was an incredibly strong person. I feel for him that he had to go through that, even now that he is gone. sad

Could you please provide the sources to the statements I have bolded. Sure would be interesting to read about the ceremony and open marriage as I have never heard that!

Thanks so much!

Maybe we can do this as a sort of virtual book club. I agree with you, wholeheartedly. Do you mind if I add you to my buddy list.
A group discussion would be fun! Add me to the "club"! rkayla: nice that Mayte took some time to discuss the book with you! I think it's going to be an emotional read. Lots of love, tears and some heartache, too.

May I also be included in the virtual book club? I have pre-ordered as well.

Of course!!! It should be fun, but I am really anxious to read her story, and although I will be sad, it will be comforting.

I think it is coming out on April 4, about two weeks before the first anniversary.
