Maybe, Prince did get the painkillers all by himself (internet) but I am still a little queasy about his guy.

Yeah, me too. | |

His appearance here and at Paisley makes me believe that legally he didn't do anything wrong...a little too bold for someone who could possibly be prosecuted for abetting in Prince's purchase of pills that killed him. But it doesn't stop me from thinking he knew what Prince was up to and did not attempt to alter his behavior or ask for help for him until it was too late. At best, he was an enabler. Maybe it is forgivable if Prince was terminally ill but short of that, I find it tough to not find fault with this guy.

I think that we will never know the full story, so people need to be careful casting aspersions on Kirky J. What we DO know is that he was probably closer to Prince that any other living person...and he probably would have taken a bullet for P. So, PLEASE do not turn this into a "Bash-Kirky J" thread. Just try to imagine his level of personal devastation.

Do you know Kirky J? If so, enlighten me..I am serious not being sarcastic.
I theorize that there were three circles in P's sphere. The outer circle, the inner circle and inner-inner circle. Some folks probably shifted back and forth within those circles. Kirk Johnson was in that inner-inner circle for a long time. He had to have known what was going on. Prince's ability to keep his drugs secret from the other two circles is a marvel...and I believe he did at least attempt to do so (pills he thought were hydrocodone hidden in aleve and vitamin c bottles).. But a person who saw him everyday for years had to have known. A true friend would have risked losing his job to force P into getting help years ago--unless that is, P was sick and that person couldn't stomach watching him suffer.
I am weary of Kirk, but would be thrilled to find out that he was not the enabler I suspect he was. Manuela dropped some hints about enablers, so I can't help but think that Kirk was one of them. there were enablers probably in the other two circles as well, but not ones who knew about the drug abuse (or the full extent of it anyhow).

You can't save another person. Just ask the experts...they're loading up church basements every day in Alanon. I was wondering not who was playing drums and also wondered if Renato was on keyboards. Couldn't see that well.

You can try And the way to change a public figure is to publically call them out.

I never believe in publically humiliating someone. Ever! That's not the answer. You offer to get professional help for that person. That's all you can do. The person has to make the ultimate decision on his life. He has to want to help himself.

Well, with the exception of the last week of Prince's life, is there any proof or indication that Kirk or anyone else even tried to call someone for professional help. Yes, I know its Prince's fault he died. But we have no proof or even indication of any interventions prior to his first overdose. That's not right. Its hard for an addict to kick addiction without support and encouragement. Maybe there was some calls made to that one doctor in MN, but those seemed pretty recent as well and I doubt P's addiction started in the first months of 2016. People should have tried harder. Its not like P was someone like Amy Winehouse who had several close calls and OD"s before finally succumbing. it feels like P was enabled for a while before it got out of hand and then people started to panic but it was too late.

Ok, my uncle is currently in a facility currently unable to eat or speak on his own due to his alcoholism and YES my grandmother enabled him because she was raised to always clean up her brothers messes. Wrong but true. Just because you are an enabler doesn't mean you don't love somebody. My grandmother is killing herself with worry right now, if that's not love idk what is.

And I'm not saying Kirk was right but we don't know what he said or did when it comes to P. I honestly know people that are P's age dealing with chronic pain and somebody taking a Vicodin is really no big deal to some. We don't know what P was doing or what he was hiding so let's not point fingers.

But it's not for us to know his personal business. You're right, we don't know what anyone did or didn't do. JH said she tried to alert those close to him about what she experienced on the plane or knew. Was it P's brother who said they tried to get him help in an interview a few months back? That's all we know.

Completely wrong to judge Kirk when we have no idea what was going on in the very inner circle. Paisley Park is in your heart

He was with him all the time. I want it not to be anyone's fault in his inner circle. I would rather think the people around him actually cared about him. But something seems fishy. I can't help feeling that way.

The bottom line is this: We will probably never know the whole story. It's not right to try to make Kirk the scapegoat. The authorities are still investigating. If Kirk is culpable in any way, charges will be brought. Unless/Until that happens, I can't see blaming his closest and most consistent friend and confidant.

If he was the center of any investigation I don't think he would be as involved with the estate as he is. He would be laying low. Same with Prince's assistant Meron Bekure. Its not illegal to be an enabler. Its illegal to supply, distribute, arrange for and transport the drugs. He definitely didn't do the later. My concern is whether he did the former.

Kirk was at the Paisley tour yesterday in the video editing room. He was very nice and he loved Prince. I think Prince's addiction and death shocked everyone except the Minneapolis doctor who cared for him.

What makes you think it shocked everyone but the MN doctor who cared for him?
I have to ask but why did Kirk get a lawyer right after P died?

everyone but Tyka, apparently. i maintain what i havesaid for the beginning; there is no way kj and mb DON"T know the deal. and there is no way that they didn't help get the stuff for him. only jesus christ himself will convince me otherwise. does that mean that they will be charged? who knows, but KJ and MB know the deal and have known for awhile. His death didn't shock Tyka, she admitted as much. There are people, in my opinion, that knew what was going on with Prince but they're not talking. I think a few people around him knew he was addicted, including Kirk and probably a few others. [Edited 10/15/16 9:47am] Baby, you're a star.

Because he already knew what it would LOOK like and people would start pointing fingers. Shit I would've gotten a lawyer too.
