If you saw his set at the London Autism Rocks gig earlier this year post Prince's passing, you wouldn't question his motives at al. It was easily the most heartfelt Prince tribute I've seen.

Sheila was doing a show in Westbury, NY, on Oct 13. That's the reason she was not at the tribute. I'm not making a whole lot out of Larry not being there either. He did attend the service at PP 2 days after Prince died and the JW service. He was very close to Prince and he may be having a difficult time dealing with the situation.

Sheila was playing in west-who-gives-a-darn NY?? And that was more important than rescheduling to be with all those other artists who rescheduled to be in MN for the Tribute? I'm just not buying it. I think there was another reason she wasn't there. I'm not saying it was her fault or anyone else's, I'm saying it seems personalities might be involved.

Clearly I've missed something. Larry attended the Funeral and performed twice in the Autism Rocks tribute shows shortly afterwards. He was actually one of the first associated artists along with Morris to do so.

Yes, but he has practically disappeared since. No mention of him during the process of the Tribute concert and he didn't appear. He has been suspiciously absent and even more interesting, not even mentioned by the circle and associates. Makes me wonder.

Yep. I agree. Something is suspicious. For a person to be so huge and supposedly pivotal in a persons life....and now they're just....silent? (more or less). And yes, the inner circle never mentioning him?? hmmm

  • tyka is a proper christian and is not at all down with the weird JW doctrine. remember, she wouldn't allow them to have prince's urn at that service
  • many signs point to prince stepping back from the congregation in chanhassen. he had been attending the kingdom hall in st louis park in the last few years.
  • prince was clearly moving toward the new agey / eastern esoteric philosphies in the last 3-5 yrs. if not before. that's not really allowed in the JW's, who are very literal in their(incorrect, imo) translation and application of the scriptures. these things would make sense if prince was actually shagging some of the young hens that hung around. he would have a very difficult time squaring unmarried sex with his own and the JW's dogmatic attitudes. if u've ever attended church for any length of time you know it's common for people who "fall into sin" to either change churches or stop fellowshipping altogether.
  • all of this would lead to larry fading into the background of prince's life.

Yeah Prince was definately exploring Eastern philosphy because I also practicing bits of Buddhism and Taoism and those paths make alot of sense to me as a human. I also said even during his final years alive he was distancing himself from JW.

I don't think he was returning to his Baptist roots.

I want to hear from some of his associates who are secular. Tyka is too bias because of her faith.

This makes sense. On another note, I found it odd that although he claimed he was celibate, he still kept alot of very young women around him. Not saying people can change, but it was Prince afterall, lol! Hope Larry is ok though.

Larry Graham isn't active on social media, nor was he active on social media when Prince was alive. I take his absence from the general public to be him living life as he always did-attending Kingdom Hall, proselytizing about Jehovah and performing occassionally. It's actually commendable because so many people who claim to love Prince are writing books about him, pimping his symbol for tattoos and positioning themselvs as knowing Prince better than the next person. At least publicly, Larry has honored Prince's wish for privacy to the letter and that's admirable.

Welp, it looks like he's been doing his thing and staying out the rest of it. He didn't look too well at the first memorial, but given the circumstances I guess he wouldn't. He did look quite well after the JW memorial and those were the last pictures I saw of him.

I saw the distancing from the JW's as well. I think he was still searching. A mind like his can't be told what to believe, he would have to discover his truth for himself. I think JW's were appealing because they protected his privacy. He could worship and be involved and they didn't publicize him.

He may not have been going back to his Baptist roots but during the past 1-2 years he had surrounded himself with evangelical Christians-the Weltons, Judith Hill, Shelby J. He was listening to Christian music and even covered a very popular Contemporary Christian single with 3rd Eye Girl. (I would have NEVER believed it if I hadn't heard it with my own ears-just because contemporary Christian music is so vanilla and Prince is so not Vanilla).

I'm curious, what do you think Tyka would be too baised about because of her faith?

Since you just mentioned P is searching for answers with his spirit I want to hear from his other associates. He might hung around with Christians but he still is searching. Maybe some of his secular associates might add input was he exploring other paths (besides JW). Tyka is a Christian so she likely going to defend her faith that what I meant the bias comment.

Firstly he isn't hiding, he performed a Tribute and is now on tour. Secondly, can he not just be left to grieve in his own way? You just cannot win, be too prominent like Mayte and people condemn you, be private and people condemn you.

So you want to hear from people who will confirm your biases? Anyway here's a quote from a 2015 interview Prince gave to Ebony magazine.

https://www.facebook.com/...788385046/

EBONY: You’ve never had a producer. What made you choose Joshua Welton for Hit N Run: Phase One?

Prince: His faith in God really struck a nerve. And you know how you can just feel that something’s gonna work and it feels right, it’s a good fit? I knew the band was going to work, I knew the relationship with him was gonna work. I check people out now to see how faith-based they are and how real they are about it. That goes a long way, I gotta tell you. Because I can trust them. I can give him the key and don’t have to worry.

And Josh Walton also told Ebony:

EBONY: Since meeting Prince, what’s been the highlight of your relationship with him?

JW: Well, like you said, it’s the relationship. I think more than we actually make music, we converse with one another, build each other up. I’m a firm believer in Christ and so is he. And so that’s why those first nine months I wasn’t working, him and I connected on that, like, dopely. It was boom, right there. Before anything else, that’s my brother. And I think the relationship, to me, is the most treasured thing.

See that Ebony interview Prince gave in 2015. Or the 2014 Rolling Stone interview where he called Christ the "Master". In that same interview he said: "Anything I believed then, I believe even more now – it's just expanded." Josh & Hannah Walton are evangelicals and very open about how important their faith is to them. Heck Prince & 3rdEYe Girl actually covered a Christian song that Prince heard while listening to a contemporary Christian radio station. One of the last records he bought at Electric Fetus (right before he passed) was "Inspirational Gospel Classics" by the Swan Silvertones. I suppose it's possible he was stepping away from strict adherence to JW, but Christianity? No way.

He was a Christian as a youth, a Christian as a young adult ( not a very good one) and JW for a while, then a Christian again. In an autobiography I read Prince was actually very involed in a church youth group. This would have been when he was living with other people besides his parents. He bounced from home to home. He went hungry sometimes. Prince was on his own at age 13.

What ever else he might have been interested in (I think he was just a curious individual period) I don't think there is evidence he gave up his Christian beliefs or faith in God.

i've read nothing that would imply he abandoned his JW beliefs for "Christianity" (and JWs do consider themselves Christian, so those distinctions don't totally make sense).

Like a lot of people in many religions, he may have interpreted his religion in a somewhat idiosyncratic way, but I haven't heard or read anything where he said he no longer considered himself JW by the end of this life. I'd be interested to read anything about that!

JWs say there Christian because they can't really tell that they are not but Christians don't think JWs are Christian. Here is what makes you a Christian, you believe that Jesus was God in the flesh and that his dying on the cross paid for your sins . Also, salvation is a free gift given to you if you accept it. JWs think Jesus is a separate being, salvation is earned through good works, and only a small few will be in heaven. How do I know Prince was not a JW, he said fuck the congregation. He was always a Christian, you can't change that. You can go astray, you can fall into groups with false beliefs, but you can not change the fact that God predestined you to his own. Prince Rogers Nelson's name is written in the Lamb's book of Life. I love you Prince.

Hell if I know . The Bible refers to Jesus so many ways I can't name but one of them is The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

I dont know . The Bible refers to Jesus so many ways I can't name but one of them is The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, don't know about JWs but IDO Know this..... JWs do NOT believe they have a soul!! Prince stated in his song Another Love, " I'm the greatest living soul you'll ever know".

I will tell you this JWs and Christianity are not not not the same and do not agree on who Jesus is. If Prince spoke with Joshua for 2 hours about Jesus and then decided to keep him, I believe Prince returned to the Truth. It's so weird how people who were close to Prince became Christians. I know of Denise Matthews, Sheila E., Big Chick, all became Christians. I wish Joshua and Hannah would have been around in April. Our boy would probably still be here

I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

According to the Star Tribune (at least I think that's who reported it) Prince saw a show at the Dakota Jazz club in Minneapolis a couple days before he passed. Apparently Josh and Hannah were at that show with him. Not sure who else was. I believe the day of or day after he passed they were at Paisley Park handing out pizza to fans who showed up to pay respects. It sure seems they were around towards the end.

Oh sad I sent them both private messages on Facebook about a month ago but they never responded. I told them look I know you can't tell me anything, but can you please just tell me I'm wrong about Warners killing Prince.

Don't tear me limb from limb here, but I wanted to say that there is an interview out there (ETT)in which Big Chick claims to have given P his first Bible, and BC thought that P was "confused" because you can't "serve 2 gods" ?(look up "rare 1988 interview big chick"on youtube, it's around 3:49 mark)..can't post the link for some reason

thought it was interesting...but not sure if true

(I'm also aware that OFFS was partially in reference to Big Chick selling P out to tabloids for his (Big Chick's) cocaine habit, but this interview seems to be after Big Chick turned christian)
