Of course I'll get over it, cause I have to, but it doesn't mean it just seems wrong. Ex-wives wouldn't have needed to put on their own to mourn him. Maybe it would've helped people/fans heal faster, better. It's just seems incomplete, imo. He deserved a public memorial. He should've had one.

A public memorial is not for the deceased, it's for the fans, family, friends, ex's. It's a public laying to rest and thank you to that person, especially a public figure. A public goodbye to him for everyone to experience, whether you're there in person or watching on TV. I'm just unsettled by the absence of one for Prince because it's the norm for stars of his caliber. And, I guess, for me it's a personal thing. I've always felt Prince was under appreciated throughout his career from the media, critics and the general public. This was just another blow. |

Is it the norm to have a public memorial, though? Besides MJ, what are some other examples?

When her brother died people talked about her so bad it was just a shame. I may not agree with how Prince's memorial and such were handled, but he wasnt my brother and I guess considering the circumstances and her knowing his wishes she did the best she could. Im still pissed at the way all these Assoc artist and ex wives have been trying to cash in on Prince's death, but I have always had respect for Tyka and her struggles in life RIP Prince I will forever and miss U |

So...what...she should have had him stuffed and mounted over the fireplace?
Forgive me for laughing, but I see your point. Having his body cremated was a viable option considering if he was buried, some of his fanatical, macabre "fams" might have waited for an opportunity to dig up his grave to procure some memento. Now he can truly rest in peace. |

Its a shame how people talk about Tyka. She is grieving the loss of her brother and some of yall are come off as so heartless. I understand her recent comments were confusing and left more questions than answers. Please we need to keep in mind that she has A LOT on her plate. She is the one the media AND fams focus on because she and Prince shared the same blood. She's damned of she looks happy because the media and fams assume she doesn't care that her brother is dead. And she's damned if she looks sad cause then folks would talk about how bad she looks and people would probably think she is back on drugs.
I think we all need to give her a break. I'm certain we will hear from her again and she MIGHT even answer SOME of the questions we have. But in her own time. And we can't expect her to please all of us cause that is impossible. I believe she is very protective as her brother as he was of her so we need to keep in mind that whatever she may allow us to know about Prince is a blessing and we need to be a little more appreciative of whatever she does for us, because ultimately she doesnt have to do a damn thing.
On another note, as I have mentioned and as Tyka has mentioned before Prince has always been protective of her so can you imagine how pissed he would be at some of yall who are talkin shit about his sister. Yall know how he loved throwin shade on Twitter. I can only imagine his tweets if he was still alive and knew about people talkin shit about his little sister |

It also bears repeating over and over until somebody gets it......most celebs do NOT have public memorials and their families are under no obligation whatsoever to do so.

I think it would have been nice to have a public memorial but at the same time Prince and any other beloved celebs don't need one to validate how love they are for the masses. People pay their respects to Prince in their own ways by complementing his work/life and people left all kinds things at PP. NASA did a tribute for him. What more could any one want? "Transition" is a commonly used euphemism for death. Transgender terminology seems to be constantly evolving, but one of the more common terms they use (or used to use) is gender "reassignment." |

While "his body was still warm"? WTF are you talking about? He was creamated 30 hours or so after he was found dead (and at that point he had already reportedly been dead 6 hours) -- and AFTER a four-hour autopsy had been completed! His body was FAR from warm and there is literally nothing shady about having him cremated at that point.
-
Did you consider that perhaps she didn't want his body lingering around because she wanted to avoid the possibilty of post-mortem photos sneaking out somehow (like MJ's did) to eager "fams"? I would have done the same as her.

LOL! It's just a figure of speech. Basically, he/she meant before the public "could even digest or fathom the fact that Prince was gone" (in other words, so soon). Here's what I think (and this is just MY opinion): Tyka, as well as Micheal Jackson and Whitney's family should have had a private viewing for the family as well as a public viewing (even if it's just for celebs and the press only). And have some pics taken of celebs filing past the open casket. Then, after the viewing the family can go ahead with the burial/cremation or whatever. I say this because it would dispel all those damn "is he/she really dead" conspiracy rumors, I am so sick of that crazy azz sh*t, I don't know what to do. I couldn't understand the public's outrage at Whitney's supposedly "leaked" casket pics. I thought she was absolutley "beautiful". I'm not glorifying death, but let's face it. It's gonna happen to us all. James Brown, Sam Cooke, Florence Ballard (of the Supremes) and numerous others had open casket viewings with pics of them lying in state, and people were okay with it. But yeah...it would help bring closure to these celebrities who pass so sudden an unexpectedly if the families handle things that way.

Even if they didn't always have the best relationship they were FAMILY and they loved each other. The fans are important but it's not just about the fans. I'm sure she is doing the best she can right now. π
With all due respect, must call b.s. Given the utter Slew of legal, administrative, business folks, and their underlings retained by her and others to be paid in specified billable minutes for what they're claiming to be doing on Prince's dime on her behalf and on behalf of the other beneficiaries, there should be/is very minimal being asked of her, frankly. However, such clients who have never functioned consistently in this world with any structured work ethic, nor ever even been self-sufficient in meeting their own most basic, real world, daily demands financially as others must, anything would be "overwhelming." Those who loved him do know this is not "the very best" folks can do on any level, and hasn't been from the beginning. If anything, true grief would push you to function harder.
