Look at the pages, say what you want. I don't think this page is hers. Probably some sort of fan page.

If that were the case, don't you think Apples would have taken some sort of action to have that page pulled down?

Nope. She probably has a life full of other things to focus her attention on.

A division that seems just too public for my liking. Either keep it shut or do it in private. Social media bitching is so catty and childish.

Makes one wonder about Prince and his relationships. They didn't seem to last and many of them did not end well or remain in good terms over the years.

Although he was surrounded by people all the time, I am inclined to think he was actually very lonely and nobody seemd to have filled that emptiness. Maybe he was used by too many people and was hurt by them. Maybe he was bored with some women past the romantic stage.

He did sing about this, he did have pictures in which he was alone and looked sad, he stated "a friend should not be on your payroll", he was rather reclusive and private, and he died alone sad sad sad

This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.

i've wondered many of the same things about him myself. it seems to me that he simply couldn't "take in" love or keep it. too much of the james brown model; once you have decided that "u're on your own" in life and determine to never be hurt again things get very chilly and most people go empty inside.

this kind of behavior is typical of people who clique up in order to gain something. or rather for most of these women their relationship to/with prince(personal and professional) is the high water mark of their life. only sheila had any kind of life and a 10yr career before she met him. she was well known and respected in the industry and had worked with several of prince's heroes before they met in 78-79. NONE of these other people had name /face recognition before (or after prince if we're being 100). so if they can't prove how important they were to prince then they don't exist. and sadly i can see how jill is doing the same thing. she said in her interview(other thread) that she was the outsider. that makes sense to me seeing how much of a contratrian she is. she seems to flip like a switch. i can't determine how truthful she is bcos i wasn't there, but she's waving her flag too. i like some of the points she makes though. and such frankness is refreshing.

I have a feeling Prince had more friends than he thought he did. The outpouring of grief after he passed from people he used to work with (or was still working with) was very evident. I remember Van Jones on CNN crying like a baby. His hairdresser Kim Berry said when she found out about his death she sat in here car on the side of the road and cried for 3 hours. Tamron Hall said she needed therapy to deal with the grief. Sheila E told the local Minneapolis newspaper that saying goodbye to him was the hardest thing she's ever done in her life. It makes me wonder if he really knew how loved he was. sad

If Mani cared so much, why did she divorce him?

If it wasn't for Prince these women wouldn't be where they are today.

Just seems like they all used him and now in death, they want their share of the pie.

And they are always jealous of the 1st wife.

And of all people Apollonia shouldn't be saying anything.

Sheila can do no wrong in my book.

She was his collaborator from the early days to recenlty. She's not profiting off this.

And she was the only one with musical talent that approached his and could share a stage with him as equals.

Are you saying this of all the people in his various bands? Sheila is great but Prince had a lot of very talented people in his bands.

yes i am.

.

No one has ever stood next to him on stage and commanded the same type of presence as a leader and a musician.

.

At concerts where he brought her out even for a small segment (e.g. W2A MSG) she stole the stage and got thunderous applause.

.

She's the only one he really ever had like that as an equal onstage.

.

She plays way more than drums and was musical director for some of his tours.

.

Was she as good and versatile as Prince on all instruments and as a songwriter? Of course not.

.

But she was the only one who came to close to him as a performer.

.

(Andre had later success with Jody watley but he wasn't a performer on the level of P or Sheila).

co-sign. and i prefer sheila singing prince's lead lines to wendy. andre sounds great too but is all swag with little spark. he doesn't "own the stage" like prince or sheila. imo

I don't imagine neither Prince nor James Brown were "empty inside". But I do think Prince probably ran from relationships into the embrace of music and performance when things got too complex. I can't imagine this emptiness because I don't think you can pull musical passion from a vaccuum. Its not like P was just a virtuoso technical guitar player. He was a passionate singer and songwriter as well. I think he either lived in the moment with women or feel hard for women and then cut and run when things got too complicated. But a wall around one's heart does not indicate a lack of heart. Music is probably addictive as well and becomes a bit of a crutch when life gets too hard. And sometimes it becomes so addictive that it occassionally substitutes for direct connection with people. Plus another problem I think Prince might have had was an obsession with music (possibly a mild form of autism, but not severe) that preyed on him all the time interfering with relationships at times. But it is a mistake to assume that those on the spectrum of autism are empty or lacking in feeling. I work with an autistic kid who like most kids wants friends, craves attention, will hug you back if you hug him, and can get very emotional. But he is socially awkward at times, has no off-switch at times, and explodes when he feels tension or stress. NOt that Prince is actually like this kid that much. But the human psyche is a complex thing. The only time I think people are empty inside is when they are sociopathic (scary), severely mentally handicapped or clinically depressed (sad.)

This thread got sad and ugly real quick, but I must say...many people when someone dies act in ways less than graceful or dignified. However, siblings fighting over dad's inheritance doesn't mean they didn't love dad in their own ways. Children arguing over who Mommy loves the most--it doesn't mean the kids don't love that mom sincerely. . The truth is that people do use each other all the time (sometimes emotionally, sometimes professionally or monetarily) and people are inheritedly self-serving--all ugly parts of human nature. But that being said, it doesn't mean there is not a place in these same people's hearts in which compassion exists for a fallen comrade even one as enigmatic and complex as Prince.

They may not realize how self-serving they come off, and in attempt to differentiate themselves from self-serving folks, they have to call out others for exploiting Prince.

However, Appolonia's love for Prince might be more figurative than anything. She was fond of him, had some nice encounters with him, and shared a cinematic fantasy life with him but if she really was thinking of herself as a widow, I don't think she would have been so fond of Manuela (a real wife who basically left Prince.)

A lot of the analysis on this thread leaves out an important part of the human psyche...ambiguity. Its seems like people here think that P's 'women' either loved him purely and wholeheartedly or were just using him for his Prince status. I doubt that its that simple in most of the cases. Maybe, they just suffer from Prince Charming syndrome (the belief in the dude who loves you, sweeps you off your feet and improves your life) and maybe Prince just wanted a Cinderella to spend time with who appreciated him. Well, of course, fairy tales are not real obviously (but that does not stop people from believing in them and then believing in them again when someone dies....what-if scenerios abound.)

Maybe, Prince felt that way about Vanity when she died as well.

She has a personal page with the same profile pic and a "professional"/"fan" page with a profile pic of her in a swimsuit. It's interesting because now on her personal page it's showing where she shared Mani's photo/page (which is also different and is a pic of Mani surrounded by children). In a good way, that was a part of Sheila E's place as a protege, to give him some inside competition(with his own music) even though the 2 bands during that time never had an adversarial competitions, they were more like a musical community and family. Sheila E was groomed as a frontman. Prince gave Sheila E more freedom

Morris Day was too was inside competition, but Prince held him back more during the period in his camp.

I think about this, and once you cross over to superstardom as Prince did, the majority of people who come into your life after(1984-1987) I cannot see how they can really be friends. Unless they are superstars as well. Because after that point everyone sees you as Prince the superstar.

It really is mostly people he knew before that period, that could see him in a different way, see him as a human, that could really have a soul connection with him or be friends.

Sheile E could never still the stage from Prince. What kind of shade are you throwing?????

It's not shade, it's truth. she did. And Prince liked it and was proud of her. Otherwise he wouldn't have kept featuring her like that.

.

If you had witnessed Welcome 2 America shows where she closed the 1st half you'd know what I'm talking about.
