Thank you, Jill, for confirming what many have tried to explain here on the org, but typically ignored, locked, or deleted. I get the feeling she's saying this in direct response to how some here try to downplay what Prince tried to correct as he grew older/wiser, revising his history based in their assumptions/beliefs, etc. Brav-fucking-o.

I am grateful for Jill Jones' willingness to be open. I tend to believe that her perspective is pretty accurate. The writing of this article itself (punctuation, words and letters missing etc.) was extremely poorly done, and that's too bad because what she has to say is so very important. I read a few months back on the Org where someone had said Prince looked so sad this last year or so. I had made a new thread asking if people felt that was true and if so, why. I saw evidence to the contrary but I think most of us feel there was something sad about him. I wonder if this double-whammy of Kim and Denise both passing away got him down. Apparently Jill thinks it did. It's information like that that is so important to helping me understand and pray for this man I so admire. Interesting about her saying the romance part was done once the album was made, and I did see a quote here on the org from an old Robik Powers thread where either she or someone else who knew Prince said most men give flowers or candy; Prince gave you a record deal. . I think he simply fell in love with his protogees, or tried to empower beautiful women he dug into becoming singers. Sort of reminds me of how a mentor works. In Prince's case he got involved with them further and there's nothing that says there's anything wrong with that. He didn't choose other men's wives and he didn't get sued for being with under aged people. It's not in this article, but I chuckle when I think of Jill's FB post which said that when she suggested sky diving, Prince stated he was not going sky diving.☂ Ah you guys... He is in a place now with Kim and Denise and all the others. I just think he led such a magnificent life. I'm bowled over by it sometimes. [Edited 9/27/16 18:46pm]

I've always believed there could be something to this. The deaths of people you are/were very close to is devasting. Prince suffered a lot of loss in his short life, including at least 2 children, his parents, brother/sister, friends, lovers, 2 marriages. Who knows how heavily this weighed on him, the emotional pain he may have been experiencing. Maybe another reason why he decided to write his memoir. Seeing so many people close to him pass away made him realize his own mortality.

Not sure how correct this is, but in the wake of this news on the close relationship Kim Upsher and Prince had, I dug this info up from the world of Wiki. I had to translate it though, as its in French. http://fr.calhounsquare.w...Kim_Upsher

Upsher Kim, born March 28, 1959 and died November 19, 2015. She is a personality from the entourage of Prince.

Before Purple Rain Upsher Kim, a native of Minneapolis, was the girlfriend of Prince during his college years. She then remained in his inner circle during the early years of his career.

While they were both in high school at Central High School in Minneapolis, Prince and Kim Upsher participated in the writing and directing of a student short film. Largely inspired by the natural history of Prince, the film tells how a small and shy student manages to win the heart of the cheerleader of the baseball team. A classmate, Paul Mitchell, played the role of a quarterback of this team (he was then in real life), and was in love with Prince competition. While it is fairly certain that the film exists, it unfortunately does not circulate in the fan community.

Kim Upsher would be the inspiration for the title Bambi, although this cannot be confirmed.

In 1981, the Prince did participate in the film The Second Coming which traces the tour following the album Controversy. The film remained unfinished and unpublished.

In 1982, she did some vocals (uncredited) on the album What Time Is It? The Time of the group. It is possible that she also participated in chorus on the album in 1999.

Purple Rain (1983-1984)
In the film Purple Rain, Kim Upsher plays the role of a waitress in the First Avenue club. She served a bottle of champagne to Morris Day when flirting with Apollonia.

Last years
During the 1990s and 2000s, Kim Upsher was a discreet personality known for her kindness and her dedicated action. Her chosen field was the organization and accounting for theaters and events.

Since 2012, she was responsible for the accounting department of a room in Minneapolis shows, The Cowles Center for Acting & Performing Arts.

November 19, 2015, she died of complications following a stroke.

Imagine Jill Jones performing "Mia Bocca" and "Baby, You're a Trip" backed by The New Power Generation and/or Third Eye Girl at the upcoming Prince celebrations and/or memorial tribute.

Perhaps "4 Love" with Andre or Bilal?

That would be amazing for those of you fortunate enough to be going.

Andre is suppose to be at the "celebration of Prince's legacy" events. Uncertain, if he will also be at the memorial concert though. Let's hope he will.

If Andre or Bilal would ever perform with Jill Jones, which songs would orgers like them to perform together?

Jill has never been among my favorite protegees, but I have to say, regardless of her past rants, it's really nice to see that she finds some things disturbing- "She's been weary and disturbed of how people have tried to define him in the media or attempting to be ornamental in his life for their benefit.

Everybody compartmentalizes him and that’s what I’ve been seeing now and they’re still clawing at him. There’s a little bit of pillar talk with a lot of stuff that gets taken out of proportion, that’s coming off as positioning themselves for their own personal value within his life and that is disturbing,” Jones says. “I think he valued people for, in his way own way, in different ways for whatever reason and I don’t like that there’s a ranking.” Well said Mrs Jones.

Amazing how Jill thinks that Dez got edged out lol Reading his book will tell you he very much wanted to leave. Plus her calling them the "milli vanilli" band was ridiculous considering he wrote all of her songs. Her Facebook tantrums have really shined a light on who she is as a person sadly.

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Just listened to the b-sides of Jill Jones singles.

Her vocals are amazing.

Hopefully, her debut album is released as a deluxe edition including these wonderful gems with her extraordinary vocals.

I had known they dated in high school and she had a small part in Purple Rain and so forth, but I had no idea that they once lived together and was as close as Jill is now insinuating, so to me, some of this was new information. Prince also has a lot of new fans now, and I'm pretty sure those that are new to Prince.org didn't realize this as well, so I hope it was helpful to some.

Anything done together would be nice...but what I want to know is why Andre is not performing at the Official Tribute. But I digress. Somehow, though, I don't think togetherness is in the cards, not even for one night to honor Prince.

I follow JJ on Instagram and she strikes me as a very direct and upfront person. She doesn't sugarcoat her words at all. I found this interview very insightful but it did make me chuckle when she referenced "plantation mistresses" - I really don't know he managed to control all of these women and it not turn into a cat fight . I agree with her that there are so many trying to place themselves in ranking order of how "close" they were to him. Ive read stories on Twitter & Instagram where they all share similar stories of late night conversations, movie nights, drives in his car, emails. I think some of these women may be a little hurt but they can't confront P so they are bitching over social media!

But again notice where most if not all the "shade" throwing is coming from? It's coming from the ones that were "sleeping" with him back in the day or at least wanted to or were closest to him during the most commercial time period. I mean think of the ladies he worked with later on to the ladies he worked with back then. Are we hearing Hannah of 3rd eye girl attacking Judith Hill? No mainly because of 2 things, for the most part, I dont think had any kind of sexual relations over the last decade or so, possibly since Manuela if even then. And two it really was all about them as artists not to get a RECORD as Jill says of those days. I mean 3rd eye girl got a record out of and with PRINCE but do you think Prince had any kind of relation other than professional with any member? Even Judith who was probably the closest till the end, I dont think they had that kind of relation.

I think Prince had a very strong relationship with Hannah and her husband Joshua and people like Ida, Liv, Shelby, Damaris etc. It's possible to be close to people without it having to be sexual. But I think you're right, the reason people like Liv and Shelby are good friends and not bitchy towards each other is because neither of them were romantically involved with Prince. That's what I love about his later collaborators. No baggage and no bitchiness.

I think some of the discord is because those ladies from the past are the ones who knew him best and the longest, not just that they may have had a romantic relationship with him. They knew him from the beginning as opposed to 2 or 3 years ago. I think that plays a major role also.

Maybe but Shelby worked with P for 10 years. Ida 6+ years. They weren't all brand new. How much contact did Jill have with Prince over the last 10-15 years?

I'm just saying the ladies from the past may feel they know him best because they've known him since the beginning, Jill especially, personally and professionally. Apples a few years after, not sure of their relationship status. Doesn't matter if they haven't been in contact in years. I'm sure they probably kept up with the goings on in his life, so there was still that connection. They have seen how he has evolved as a person and musician through the years, even at a distance later on. Some have been in touch with the newer crew, Apples/Mani, i.e. Basically, there may be this I knew him before you did, so I knew him best attitude going on.

Some Guys Send You Flowers, Prince Gives You Albums’: An Interview With Jill Jones

09/27/2016 10:02 am ET

An emotional moment in 1984’s Purple Rain after The Kid runs outside of First Avenue club after performing the title track to drive away on his bike. Stunned by the roar of cheers, he turns, smiling at the sight of a teary-eyed Jill who he greets with a playful “Hi” before running back inside.

Are they connecting this picture with the quote underneath about the PR scene?
