Prince in love as a younger man

I came across an article from 1998 this morning. I think it was either Essence or Ebony. It got me really reflecting on Prince's life.

He and Mayte had recently gotten married and he seemed so clear...said he was at peace...they snuggled during the interview. He was so forthcoming and open.

He said that he watched the video that was sent to him of Mayte dancing. He said, "I fell in love." He said he was in love with the whole process of love and that whoever invented love knew what they doing, or something to that affect, and that when he knew he was in love he dropped to his knees and thanked God. I am paraphrasing here but think I'm getting it pretty accurate. Couldn't provide a link due to the format of the article, sorry.

One thing that really caught my eye was this: he said that Mayte had been his friend for years and years and was the only one who had never shown him malice.

I love that.

Sometimes I wonder if she is the one who will be with him for eternity, or if there's someone else that came much later or whom he never got to meet.

Either way it was wonderful and sad at the same time to read all that this morning and to reflect on his life in his way.

He also said Mayte's soul knew him and he stopped using his name because there was no need, that she helped him see that our physical bodies and all that was just ego.

Later, he wanted and liked his name used, he said, even writing "Call My Name" after Manuela called him "Prince".

So was all this stuff he went through with Mayte, or really it's about him and his journey, just a phase in his process of evolving?

try clicking on the link address and click copy and then paste when you get to a page. I dont know if you are going to be contact by org because it's an article about Prince. I am not sure but you can in other chat rooms...there are so many other...I am going to see if I can find that link you mentioned. I love to see Mayte and Prince together but so many things went wrong that neither of them know how to handle it but it would have strengthen them if they had only tried but there were someone else hanging around

uh, thanks for posting more...I always thought he love mayte but for Manny, she just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Had he given it more time Mayte and Prince would have made it

Ive read other people's accounts of their experiences in Prince's world while Mayte was around and they said she brought him out of his shell and made him more sociable and likeable and kind. It really makes you wonder how or why he was capable of going from that person described in the original post above to being capable of totally erasing her from his life. I can only imagine how hurtful it had to be for her to be tossed out like that. For me it shows how fickle he really was and how he didn't understand love and soulmates on a deeper level.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

I hope I didn't break any Org rules. If so, I can edit my post to being blank.

The article is from 1997 and it was one of many of his interviews/article starting when he was a senior in high school to 2003 or 6 on a Google cache...The particular article was very poorly edited but interesting. Enjoyed the comments of his discovering he was in love.

Hi AA1ot
This article I saw was an actual picture of the article straight out of the magazine. I found it on my IPhone under a Google search but it came up in a hard-to-red format, like the way reading a page of a book on Google looks.

But anyway, are you saying the article itself was done poorly or inaccurately? I'm curious because sometimes it's hard to know what to believe in writing about P.

Hi there...the editing was terrible on the article. I bookmarked the site to go back and read other articles....i had not read this particular article before so was glad to find it. I think the article was accurate as far as we will ever know. I was happy to learn that he discovered he was in love.
