. This was recorded during a rehearsal/soundcheck for the 25 August 1986 Le Zenith/Paris show (which show was rumored to have been considered for a possible live album release, and from which show the basic tracks to "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night" were drawn; he references the "Detroit Crawl" in "Coco Boys", also an early reference to "the Kangaroo", similar to that section of "The Line"). . PrinceVault gives a 14 September 1986 date for a studio recording of a song with this same title. It may be a re-recording or an entirely new recording altogether, or it may be work on mixing and overdubbing the tracks from the Le Zenith soundcheck into a more developed song (this being most likely. The ?uestlove leak appearing to be overdubbed and cleaned up and based directly on the soundcheck). . [Edited 9/12/16 12:59pm] Thanks! The wooh is on the one!

How about some descriptions for those of us that don't have the snippets?

. 'Call of the Wild' appears to match up with the claims that Susannah encouraged Prince to listen to some Led Zeppelin shortly before he recorded this one. The track appears to have an attempt at the the signature compressed live drum sound of John Bonham, and it is very tight. The guitar is more rambling, but the track impresses us in that it is atypical to almost anything else we've heard from this era. Guitar effects gear set-up closely resembles those in 1985 version of 'Empty Room', and it is more similar to that track than 'Question of U', although all three were recorded during approximately the same period in the Summer of 1985, and none of them much resemble each other outside of production technique. . . Prince's 'Yo Mister!' is, obviously, quite close to Patti's version. It is not mixed as well as Patti's, but most of the same basic tracks are present. The version Questlove is playing appears to lack many of the horn overdubs. With its 'street-sensible' social message, and a little more gloss applied to the final product, this song would have a been a strong possibility for a Top 10 crossover hit for Prince if released during ~1986-1988. . . The vocal 'Feline', here being Prince's vocals rather than St Paul's (which version also exists in the Vault), is a good track, and appears to be built over basically the exact same underlying tracks as the instrumental that has been circulating for decades. The speed and style of his vocal delivery resembles 'Velvet Kitty Kat', and is a bit emotionless (perhaps because it was laid down as a 'throw-away' of sorts for St Paul to sing). . With the vocals added, the track has the sonic feeling of something crossed between 'Yes!' and 'Mutiny' from the same album. . This version is nowhere near as good as the improvised rehearsal/soundcheck jam from the Purple Rain tour, however, which was more like a Purple proto-'Le Grind'. . [Edited 9/12/16 16:07pm]

I'm excited about these but feel some won't see release. Like Eggplant where the lyric refers to a girl being retarded n slow. "I like to watch."

'Love and Sex' appears to have sax overdubs (played over Oberheim horn leads), and other shibboleths that suggest 1986/1987 work. The synth work is more like that on 'Romance 1600' or 'Sheila E' (a bit like 'Sister Love' or 'One Day I'm Gonna Make You Mine') or the newer tracks on 'Jill Jones', and the vocal delivery suggests 1986/1987 Prince (reminds me a bit of 'Make Your Mama Happy', 'Train' or even some of the 1987/proto-LoveSexy material), and is mostly not what one would expect from an early-1984 Prince, only days away from recording 'When Doves Cry'. . This is the 1986, or perhaps even later, version of this song. We can't reasonably know when this was last worked on, but it clearly is from the 1986/1987 era, and allegedly slated for use one point on 'Sheila E'. . This clearly isn't the March 1984 'Love and Sex'. . However, on the basis of the drum programming and effects, it may be based on the initials tracks to the 1984 version; it has that wild 1985-and-earlier distorted guitar sound, and it seems to have a similar program to 'Traffic Jam' and WDC, and is unlike that harsh Linn snare sound of 1986 Prince, drawing some doubt to PrinceVault's statement that the 1986 'Love and Sex' is unrelated, aside from sharing a title, to the March 1984 'Love and Sex'. . Vocals sound actually a bit like '200 Baloons' 'Fllyyyy with me', but I certainly wouldn't date this version of 'Love and Sex' any later than 1987.

Obviously it's been moved because the thread name says "New QUESTLOVE snippets"--and the mod saw the name "Questlove" and assumed Questlove had some new snippets of music out from some Questlove project. Maybe a better thread name would have been "PRINCE music we haven't heard yet was played by some DJ I'm not naming so nobody can get it twisted and move this to a completely inappropriate forum."
The only reason I saw this at all is because of the duplicate thread on the main forum that was closed and redirected here. And clearly that's not how it should have happened.

Okay, thanks to the heads up I've heard everything except Love and Sex now.
I still don't understand the idea of pitching Emotional Pump to Joni Mitchell. Not lyrically (though I don't get that either)--but musically.
Call Of The Wild--Okay, I thought it was kind of just a heavy rock tune, but about halfway through things get weird. I'm curious, and I'd like to hear it better. I can't imagine it ever even for a second being considered for Parade, however.
Sister--actual demo? Hmmm... interesting. I actually like this. And I don't like the released track, really. Strange.
Coco Boys--It's okay. I guess. Feels like a soundcheck groove more than a song, which I guess isn't surprising. Or even just another "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night," which I guess is also appropriate (and I never felt much more than "It's okay" about that track, too).
Yo Mister - Yeah, it's basically the same, but I'd still like to hear the whole thing.

I know (and I'm glad you did, or I would have never heard about these snippets). And clearly the mod in question (whichever one) doesn't want to address the original decision. [Edited 9/13/16 4:09am]

. That seems a bit of a subjective description. He recites the "Detroit Crawl", "Wooden Log", and "Kangaroo", all of his Hit-and-Run/Parade tour stage antics with the Counter-Revolution. He shouts out band directions during the song. These would seem to be unlikely to have been added in a studio. The track is mostly instrument/beat-driven, and the vocals somewhat nonsensical, and for something known to have been recorded during a rehearsal or soundcheck, more or less an 'instrumental'. . Instead, I believe he processed the basic tracks, added synth and some vocals in the studio later on, but that most of the track derives from the soundcheck. . This is a bit like 'Data Bank' or 'Soulpsychedelicide', from the same era, in the sense of being soundcheck/jam/rehearsal takes further worked on in the studio. . [Edited 9/13/16 16:21pm]

Exactly! It is always frustrating how people here act like this is easily publicly available - I just googled and cannot find any of this using multiple reference points. I don't see the point of being secretive about bootlegs anymore - if people want to flame me about that fine - to me it is just more money not going to either the record company or the "estate" - it is all pointless now that youtube has a ton of unreleased tracks readily available.
