Thanks for sharing. This interview started out nicely, but then it went south with all the talk about electoral politics. I'm not finished listening yet, but I hope they will soon shift away from the political. I like his "Black Man in America" discussion, but not the election. I want to hear about Prince. Also, Michael Dean needs to let his guests speak. He interrupts too much (except with this LONG discussion on politics). For instance, when he asked Andre his feelings about the Prince tributes and if he felt that Prince was being done right. Andre was talking about the experience with the Revolution at First Avenue and the dynamics at work in that experience and Michael Dean interrupted and totally shut down that line of discussion...with Prince's "brother from another mother" and earliest collaborator. Talk about an historic interviewing blunder. And, it's really a shame because Andre is a pretty straight shooter, so it's no telling what he might have revealed. At any rate, I'm still going to finish listening; however, it's so long that I have to take breaks (especially during these ill-advised political detours). It's easy to listen to Dre talk for over three hours when he's talking about the early days with Prince, and their exploits laying the groundwork for what became the MLPS Sound, but when you veer off into LONG political sermons, you lose some people.

I'm glad I stuck with the interview. I'm at the 2 1/2 hour mark now and he's telling about when he learned about Prince's passing...and the days leading up to it. I'm going to go back and listen to some parts right before that mark again because I fell asleep during the voting part. Now, he's talking about when Dez entered the scene.

Based on this interview, it seems that Dre is going to be performing at the Tribute Concert!!!! YES!! I just couldn't see him NOT being there.

//- There is a interview he did with Micheal Dean about a year ago were he does talk about Prince and the early days. I will post it.

He sounds like a nice guy. I've noticed that before. I appreciate the information and further understanding he offers.
One thing about some of these interviews though...there are so many extra words and "you knows" (both the hosts - Dr. funk does it too bigtime - and sometimes the guests), that it's often hard to follow.
im glad Prince and Andre had each other and that we have Andre to hopefully help Prince's legacy be expressed right.

Must-listen interview.

If for some reason you can't hand discussions on politics just FF a bit. It all comes back to Prince/Andre/MUSIC.

That said, listen to it all... wink cool

Thanks for posting this. Always grateful for Dre's input and it's nice to know that he's politically aware so I don't mind the political content. His new music sounds intriguing.

I always think it's kind of inconsiderate to interview associates and not ask about their personal interests, opinions and current projects they may be working on, so I was glad the host covered that. Dre is interesting, talented and handsome in his own right and not merely an extension of others he has worked with.

Six kids eek ....he's been busy. I didn't even know he had remarried.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

he had his first child, a daughter, when he was 22. she has green eyes like her mom and some joni mitchell song reminds andre of her. i have never known her name. they had just finished the DM tour. andre said he was broke(his car was even towed) and living with his mom. he had arie(son) with Jody Watley. he has a son and twin daughters with his current wife(ingrid chavez bff). don't know when the other son was born, before or after arie?
