Because his own shows were always so well planned lol

But we're not dealing with Prince anymore.

What I want to know is this: Just who ARE we dealing with? WHO'S IN CHARGE??? Tyka is the one who made the initial announcement about this tribute concert to be held SIX MONTHS after her brother's passing. Is SHE in charge? Londell has been tweeting about October 13. Is HE in charge? WHO???

Now, this is interesting. If this is true, what a fiasco since the concert has already been officially announced. They even announced a few acts that would supposedly be there. It is strange that more details haven't been announced along with ticket prices and info. After all, this is a doggone stadium, not a small club or arena. Even Prince didn't announce last minute hitnrun concerts in stadiums--not that I remember anyway...

I don't think the estate or Londell ever announced acts.

Apparently, it was the Minnesota State Arts Board that dropped some names in their newsletter. It was reported in several outlets. Here is one link. Londell HAS been tweeting about Oct. 13, though.

First details emerge abou...nk Stadium

So Sheila's doing this but can't make the official family tribute show? Weird. I'm guessing whatever fall out they had around/after W2A they reconciled before he passed? Unless this is all just publicity for her? Though the impression I get is his death hit her hard. Maybe that would have happened regardless if they reconciled or not? confused [Edited 9/9/16 10:10am]

Sheila was at both family memorials so I dont think there was a problem with P's family??

Maybe something happened between Sheila and the family after the memorials?

I dunno.

It sure seems that way. I think Sheila wanted to be in charge of the official tribute, and maybe even Prince's overall legacy. From the beginning, she made that plain in a plethora of TV appearances. Now, since that did not happen, it seems (to me) that she is playing HARDBALL...AND swinging well-aimed punches, wearing BRASS KNUCKLES. I mean, this Cleveland tribute concert, two days after the still unconfirmed Oct. 13 U. S. Bank Stadium tribute--for which she is conveniently unavailable--is as GANGSTA a move as I have ever seen. OAN, all the while, she is selling a BOATLOAD of Prince memorial t-shirts. SHEILA E. AIN'T NO JOKE. OKAY??!!??

There's also this article from The Star Tribune by Jon Bream from August 31st which stated that Morris Day and Mint Condition had been confirmed as acts for the October 13th tribute at US Bank Stadium. It also states that Sheila E. is scheduled elsewhere on October 13th... All very strange...

Sheila E is a no-go for Prince tribute concert at U.S. Bank Stadium

Nothing concrete about the official Prince tribute concert for U.S. Bank Stadium on Oct. 13 has been announced except the date.

.

An official adviser to the Prince Estate, L. Londell McMillan, a lawyer who formerly served as a manager to Prince, told the Associated Press this week that performers and ticket information will be announced after Labor Day. But then the original announcement of the event -- which came from Prince's sister Tyka Nelson -- had promised details in August.

.

However, Sheila E has taken preemptive action and announced through her publicist that she’s not scheduled for the Minneapolis concert on Oct. 13. In fact, she’s booked that night in suburban New York City with Sergio Mendes.

.

Meanwhile, itineraries for Mint Condition and Morris Day & the Timeconfirm their involvement in the Oct. 13 tribute concert.

.

This is what Sheila E, Prince’s former drummer, said in her statement:

“To provide clarity and to avoid confusion, I am not scheduled to perform at the Prince Tribute Concert currently planned for October 13th.

.

“In these months after Prince's passing, there is still much being sorted out and discussed. Among them are performances and tributes which have taken place and planned among many different groups and organizations. It is appreciated that each of us; family, friends and fans find ways to display our respect and admiration for one who gave so much to so many. In the course of the days, months and years ahead, I like many of you will continue to honor Prince in various ways. I thank you all for your consideration, love and support of me, all of the Paisley Park families, and the Legacy of Prince, now and in the future.”

This is true. I don't understand why Morris Day and The Time (especially if Jerome, Jesse Johnson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are included) and Mint Condition were not enough to anchor the tribute, allowing for a contract to be signed. Other acts could have been announced in a rolling fashion. THEY DON'T NEED SHEILA E. TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL PRINCE TRIBUTE, ASSUMING THE ESTATE TRULY WANTS TO HAVE A TRIBUTE.

OK Can't believe no one has asked this but Cleveland Ohio? Why? I could understand Detroit, New York, Chicago but Cleveland. There has to maybe something going on with rock n roll hall of fame?

What a mess! So many tributes in so many places including so many people. Could they just come together for once and be in it together?

I'm like sigh shrug how difficult to do a major tribute with all the associated artists on one place in Mn? eg. like weekend festival and a tour of Paisley Park would be incredible.

Memphis, TN – Cannon Center for the Performing Arts

Morris Day and the Time with Sheila E.

This was on Sheila E web site.

https://www.sheilae.com/sheila-e-tour/

But the 10-15 date doesn't show up yet. Maybe a few more shows with The Time in between?

Some of the protégés are ALL about clocking those dollars right about now, all in the name of Prince. BTW: The Oct. 15 show is up on the I-X Center website, I guess it just hasn't made it to the personal websites yet.

It IS unfortunate, but I guess they can't very well NOT promote the ticket seller.
