Mayte's Annullment If Prince and Mayte's marriage was annulled, then there would be no "divorce settlement", correct?

It wasn't annulled. He divorced her. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

"Two years after tying the knot, Prince and Garcia separated. They formally divorced in 2000. 'When I got divorced, it was another culture shock. It was going from this world I had been into since the age of 16 to literally standing on the streets of New York in kind of shock,' she said in a VH1 Hollywood Exes clip. In a 2015 interview, Mayte revealed that while she wasn't in love with her ex-husband, 'I will always love him — he's a great guy.'"
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

You folks are way too interested in the personal lives of people you don't know. This has been suggested before, but I would love to have this forum split into "Prince Music" and "More".

Oh you thought she was in love with him?

your taking the statment from Mayte out of context.. she said on Holloywood exes that she wasnt inlove with him anymore.. it doest mean she didnt love him while they were together!

The article is quoting her from a different time period than the marriage. She wasn't in love with him at the time of the divorce, but still loves him as a person.

My understanding of the quote is that in 2015, when she gave the interview, she was not IN love with him, but still has love for him and always will. That I can understand, but the op said she was never IN love with him. I always thought she was in love with him so I was shocked to think that she had never been in love with him. "Prince and his wife – the inspiration behind his hit The Most Beautiful Girl in the World – annulled their marriage on their third anniversary in 1999 and were officially divorced in 2000."
this came from: http://www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/2016042231056/mayte-garcia-statement-prince/
I know not the most wonderful magazine in the world.. but an recent interview with Mayte.

TruePurple said: If Prince and Mayte's marriage was annulled, then there would be no "divorce settlement", correct? Mayte said recently that there was no annullment, which means that she and Prince were dishonest with the interviewer in 1999. I think the 1999 interview was with Vogue Magazine Spain. Oh is that how people can read it. That she's saying she was not in love with him when she was married to him?

This is really making me feel a way. I've always defended M because I thought she really loved him and their love was tragic, blahblahblah... But if she never was in love with him...she's dead to me.

THat's not what she's sayyyyyinggggg

I read that as now, her love has to change or she would have been banging his door like a crazy person asking him to take her back, if you keep the love like you did when you was together, lets say it doesn't turn out good, so I understand the statement

The full sentence, to give a little context:
"So although I am not actively in love with him, I will always love him – he’s a great guy." "Fun is good." - Dr. Seuss

Yes I was getting that impression from peoples comments on here.. I think she was the one... I Know, I know another thread has been done to death on this subject... But I the interview :
In a 2015 interview, Mayte revealed that while she wasn't in love with her ex-husband, 'I will always love him — he's a great guy.'"
That statment was regarding how she feels about him now... this was on Hollywood exes...

Well Mayte gets a pass from me just cuz she was a lil young and naive about things and just got caught up in an older mans game. But she should've boxed Mani ass for stealing her husband. The marriage was ending but why be the cause of it ending. Mayte should've belly danced all over that ho

Whoa there. I'm glad you came here first to get it straightened out before hopping on a plane. You'd be news at 10.

I think the 'annullment' thing came about because, at that time, P was lamenting CONtracts, so it seems that as he gradually went off Mayte, his view of their marriage developed into his viewing it as another such contract, holding him against his will; to his mind, annullment meant it had never happened...Of course, as it transpired, in order for the marriage contract not to exist, he had to get a 'proper' divorce.

Do you have a Quote for this... I will look it up when I have my laptop. My husband hid it because I am a little too obsessed with this website and the Internet in general. Edit: I looked all over for the article and couldn't find it. But I recall somewhere Mayte saying there couldn't have been an annulment because they had a child. Maybe I am mistaken; if so, I apologize. [Edited 8/11/16 18:02pm] Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above
