Since when is Mayte part Egyptian?

I was always under the impression that both of her parents were Puerto Rican?

We are not talking about Mayte but Mani smile

This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.

Lol. Mayte is not Egyptian. Mani's mother is, I believe.
Prince and Mayte felt they had met in Egypt in a previous life. There was a lot of the Egyptian theme in their relationship and music together.
The Egyptian thing is something Prince focused on often.

Mayte has said in interviews that she is Puerto Rican.

I don't know MT' ethnicity.

MT is Egyptian (mother) and Italian (father), from what I've gathered.

I thought about this topic today and in line with my thoughts about why MT might want the records to remain sealed, I wondered if they might state that she had an abortion. Maybe she doesn't want her family to know that. I can't shake the feeling that whatever she wants to keep private is more about protecting herself than it is about protecting P's privacy.

I hear you about protecting herself, but I also wonder why so many find that suspect. Why wouldn't she protect herself? If she doesn't, who will? Why can't a woman protect herself?

From what the legal eagles on the other thread have said, it's doubtful an abortion would be in the divorce papers. And, while I do think it's possible their relationship ended because they disagreed on having a family (just my speculation), I suspect things just got a bit nasty in the negotiations and they chose to keep that private. And why shouldn't it be private at this point? I don't believe it will shed any light on his death. And, remember, Tamar was deposed, not Eric Benet (as far as we know and according to those who have poured over the legal filings). I suspect MT accused P of cheating during the negotiations, they threw a little mud at each other, and she doesn't want to relive that in the public eye. Perfectly understandable and not that sinister.

But I'm not one to think that Mani screwed over a hapless P (not that you think this, but others have come close to describing him as a doddering old fart who fell for the wiles of a beautiful, calculating young thing). She was young, and by the descriptions of her, not that experienced in life. She worked in his world, his kingdom, where he had all the power and she was likely infatuated. He swooped her up and she went along with it (this is his MO after all). All this with a man who could have had any woman he wanted from a selection of the most beautiful women in the world and who was still in his prime at 40. She wouldn't be the first young woman to believe a man when he said his marriage was over (he did ship his wife to Spain and claim the marriage was annulled after all), not that we know when his relationship to MT actually got romantic. She was an adult, true, but geez, so was he. And he was far, far more experienced in life. In the end, it didn't work out. No big surprise there. These things rarely do. But we don't really know why.

And if I were advising a young MT I would have told her to run, not walk, in the opposite direction. He needed a formidable woman who was a contemporary as a partner, not a kid just out of college. And...she wouldn't have listened to me...because it was P. wink

(And I think their conversation at that lunch was scripted...because that's how those shows roll. Don't know why either would go along with it, but I'm old school. I don't understand the appeal of reality TV...)

Just a thought.. Do we know if MT's Attorney deposed Tamar or was it P's Attorney? If there was mud slinging going on, it's possible that even though P didn't want the divorce, that he had to finally take a stand and maybe Tamar had witnessed something between MT and Eric??

Good question! Don't know. And I don't know where the thread is that links to the case, probably that horribly long estate thread...

But it's hard for me to see how Tamar would know anything about Eric Benet. Why wouldn't they just depose Benet? But, I'm no divorce lawyer so who knows. Actually, now that I think about it, P's lawyers might depose Tamar so she could say there wasn't an affair going on, rather than something about Benet. I believe that's what Amy Grant and Vince Gill did during his divorce. So, it was probably Gill's attorney who deposed Grant (but I'm not bothering to look that up...I just know they went on record in a deposition denying an affair).

Morningsong or Isaidlifewasjustagame might know since they've been following the paperwork pretty closely.

It's not a bad thought, but I'm liking that idea that Tamar was proving their was no affair a little better. wink

I don't know. I have no doubt he could probably be difficult to live with, but still it would have to hurt somewhat that she was selling her engagement ring. And now she claims he was "everything" to her? Some of this seems so phony, but who am I to say.

You make good points, however, I think it's a bit naive to assume that simply because chronologically P was older that it wasn't possible for MT to use him.

I wasn't paying attention to P and his career or love life between the time that MG lost Ahmir's and MT appeared. I missed MG's miscarriage, their divorce and his marriage to MT.

I'm a woman and I will be candid and say that women on the whole, even decent women with pure intentions, scheme on a level that even the most world experienc ed men simply are not equipped to anticipate. And that doesn't make the women all bad people. And that doesn't make the men stupid.

I think everyone has an agenda, even if that agenda isn't malicious.

MG's agenda, encouraged by her mother, was to be married.

MT's agenda appears to have been to be married to P.

Now, consider his availability in both scenarios.

Now consider the prevailing motivation between each woman and how they each might have achieved their ultimate goals of not simply having a romantic and or sexual relationship, but to actually be married to P.

After all, many many many women can apparently claim a sexual relationship with P ranging from casual to committed and every flavor in between. But these 2women stand out because they ended up with their specific goals.

In my boredom, I simply thought of possible scenarios that got them each to their relationship goals.

That's it. I'm not judging them. My genitals weren't used to further their goals so it doesn't impact on me other than simply being a Riply's Believe It Or Not curiosity exhibit.

As for MT, of course she's entitled to her privacy, but most people seeking privacy don't call attention to themselves at every opportunity, including creating opportunities for publicity, when they really want privacy.

P liked his privacy. His public behavior supports that claim, to the point where even those closest to him have commented on how they weren't always aware of certain things that he apparently wanted to keep private.

Just sayin

Oh, I hope you didn't think I was coming down on you for your comment. I know it's just curiosity for you, and your comments are tasteful and not too salaciously speculative.

Full disclosure:

I have a strong bias against women always blaming the woman in situations like these while letting the man off the hook completely with the notion he didn't know what hit him. I'm not so easy on the man because more often than not, these men know exactly what they're doing. They have an agenda as well and the young woman fits right into it. (And that's in the best of situations; powerful men use young women all the time.) At best (or worst), it's a mutual use. And I can't believe that MT is the most cunning woman he'd run into in his more than 20 year A-list career at the time. wink I think men are just as cunning; it's just usually about power with other men and they can back-stab with the best of the women...I've watched it first hand..

I think most people in the celebrity world send mixed messages about privacy, so MT is not unusual in that regard, and she doesn't usually give away too much about her private life or feelings. All of them are playing with the fire of celebrity (that includes P when he was alive). Only Bria has kept completely quiet, which is consistent with her quiet life. And the 3rdEyeGirls have not gotten involved in any cattiness either. I appreciate that about them.

Oh, I didn't take your remarks personally. And actually, my thoughts and comments are often quite prurient in intent, but not as easily spotted because I rarely write them in a vulgar way leaving the reader's imagination to fill in the blanks. Saves me from racking my brain for more than the flimsiest innuendo yet producing the desired effect. The intent behind much of what I write is quite filthy, but the reader has to be paying attention.

I'm also an equal opportunity "blamer". I just think that given the reports from folks who apparently knew MT personally, her objective since her teens was to acquire P.

I adore men, but even the most intelligent and sophisticated of them tend to be very basic in nature and easily manipulated by women. My favorite is the man who says he would never allow himself to be manipulated by a woman yet he is in the middle of being manipulated by a woman yet doesn't realize it.That's not an insult. The most effective manipulations are getting someone to do something that you want done, but making them believe it's their own idea. In my opinion,

Your mileage, of course, may vary.

Personally speaking, I don't think I could ever be in a relationship with someone like Prince, because if things didn't work out, it would devastate me.

I know! I mean if you knew him on a personal level, and then things didn't work out could you ever go back liking his music? And yeah as for a relationship with him... neutral ...I don't go for the player type but some girls don't care....he would be great for a hot one night stand though or fling. sexy Or as a friend. hug

Agree!

What could be Lower than an obsessed fan seeking an entry level job to befriend his spouse so that she can then use religion to calculate getting into her obsession's pants?

Just WHAT?!

But did she do that? Remember, Mayte was shipped off to Spain by then, right? MT did not start at Paisley Park until 1998 either...probably mid-year, since most students graduate college in May (not all but definitely the majority). By 1997, P told Rosie O'Donnell that Mayte did not work in the band any more, so did she really have a personal assistant when she stopped working in the band? It's possible she did, but did she have an assistant at PP when she lived in Spain?

This is what I mean. There's very little verified fact when it comes to MT, except when she started, that she was a fan, and when she married him. The rest is rumor and I don't buy that any more than I buy the rumors that Mayte cheated on P first...and there are those rumors, too. There's a rumor that MT was wearing Mayte's clothing at PP, also, but whenever anyone asks for verification, there is none. Who knows where these things start. It's really none of our business...

Yours is the BEST kind of writing. biggrin

Yes, I think my experiences have been different. I've seen men be very conniving and manipulative, especially in the workplace. And my father and my husband both call men out for not taking responsibility for their actions, especially with regard to women, by claiming simple-mindedness in relationships. That ship don't sail in my family. wink

I've met people who would take a similar stance.

Sorta like the folks who feel that strippers are being exploited by the customers who pay them. It's an interesting exercise in the development of social construct, no?

I'm reminded of the age old Dominant/submissive question; In a BDSM scene, if all play stops when the "slave" says the password, who is really in ultimate control...the Master or the slave?

cool

Mark my words, every single one of these girls will eventually get a book deal, wait awhile and trust me , they'll all spill the beans, their already booking gigs with there belly dancing, etc, all kinds of whatever they do?theyll spill out everything about him . All of them...money grubbing nobodies who got very lucky, they will cash in. Mani, who should mind her own business with a husband and 2 kids , beware folks... She will milk this for as long as she can. Mayte, she'll do whatever, as much as he loved them , it's all about cash baby, remember that. I always liked mayte but I feel she's desperate and mani always had an agenda and here's her perfect opportunity to show what she knows.. How close she was to greatness . For her own ego. I can't stand those kinds of people .

I'm not sure about if they'll tell everything, but of the 2, I think MG has a higher probability of breaking ranks first. But I have my money on MT as the one who breaks out with more secrets if she figure out how to tell P's secrets without making herself look bad. She could be more transparent about what she spills without making herself look like a goldigger if she could replicate MG's sweetness and naivete. Because MT doesn't present as a sympathetic character. She's not the type you want to hug and comfort. MG is, though. Could MT be motivated to be friends with MG to pick her brain about details of her life with P and try adopt MG's natural sweetness?

In the Facebook post Apple's made a few days ago, she mentions P telling her to watch for fake tears and Judases. I'm gonna side with P on knowing the people in his world better than I do. I trust P to know pretty much how various people would behave after his leaving this earth.

We're all simply speculating spectators. We'll just have to see how all of this Shakespearean tragedy plays out.

Lol

Time will tell.
