Morris Day interview talks about Prince and his performance at Paisley in January 2016

http://nypost.com/2016/08/05/morris-day-remembers-the-last-time-he-spoke-to-prince/

-----------

I think this is the first interview Morris has done were he speaks a little about coming up to Paisley Park in January. It appears they did reconcile their differences.

Excellent article! Great to have Morris' reflection! Awesome that he and Prince were able to put aside differences and make one last great memory!

Morris said, “There will always be a void. But life goes on. If it were me, I would want people to get on with it. I’m pretty sure he would want the same.” Very well put.

Yes and I think Morris is one that would definitely be one to speak about how Prince would prefer those of us left living to carry on

I liked the interview and it is so nice that they reconciled after all this time, and I definitely agree with his quote, Life does go on, and we have to keep living our lives, because those that are no longer here can't do that.

I think we have confirmation that Prince was bullshittin last summer when he told the editor of Ebony.com he and Morris were talking and recording a new Time album.

Thanks for the reference. Good to hear that they had some type of reconciliation.

Not many details but this remark is significant: “It was the first time in a while that we’d had a chance to sit down and chat,” Day tells The Post. “It had been a few years since I’d seen him. I questioned why he was calling me up at the time. In hindsight, it’s almost like he felt something or knew something was up.”

-// No we don't he was probaly planning on speaking to Morris when he came up to visit or maybe had reached out a few times and Morris did not get back to him until January. We have no idea what they discussed but I still believe he knew he was dying and was trying to make amends with people.

All signs point toward "Purple Rain 2". Morris was teasing the project on Twitter before Prince passed.

The Ebony article was published in advance without Prince's approval so, you are probably right. Prince was probably just seeding the interview with his plans for the future. It's an important disctinction to me, because I was looking forward to hearing new Prince/Morris music and I think it's pretty clear now it didn't happen.

I think he knew he was dying and wanted to clear the air with a few people before he passed on, but I also think he was in denial about it somewhat too, until the day or two before he died. Had he truly believed he was leaving, I think he would have set Morris up better with The Time name and masters and Tyka with his fortune.

I think he thought he had more time and things may have taken a turn for the worst in the last weeks. To me this even explains the plane incident taking a rack of pain meds to make it to that show.

Like Morris said, Prince was having a good time watching the Time play. He was sitting with Judith and Tyka. He couldn't stay seated. He kept jumping up and playing air drums, keys, and bass. I was hoping we would join them onstage at some point, but it didn't happen. It's too bad every thread turns into "Prince new he was dying, Prince had AIDS, Prince had cancer," or any other made up bullshit that some of you state as fact.

Exactly, maybe its just that the last time Morris saw him was in 2014. I believe Jimmy, Jellybean and everybody else that said that Prince and Morris spoke all the time..

Morris said he heard Prince had a good time. He never actually laid eyes on Prince that day, which he mentioned was odd, in a different interview shortly after the Paisley concert, but before Prince died.

I don't blame you at all if you doubt that Prince was dealing with a fatal health issue, other than the opeoids. You probably didn't follow him as closely as some of us that see it as more than likely that he did. I remember the threads where people said Prince had a problem with pills, that everyone attacked before they were deleted. Then, you know what happened, Prince dies from a self-inflicted drug overdose so....

-// No one said anything on this topic that Prince had AIDS. People can actually get sick and die from other things other than AIDS. In addition, he was on pain pills probaly because he was in pain. Could have been from joint pain or other types of pain.

Sad if true but at least he was attempting to get help. It's sad he never got a chance to

receive help. It seems like that's what he was referring to when he told the fans at his final

concert to save their prayers for a few days.

That's because everything points to Prince having a terminal illness. The longer this secrecy goes on surrounding the death of Prince, the more speculative people will become. Anyone with eyes can see the dramatic physical changes in Prince over the last two years of his life. Combine that with the memoir, the kind of tour he was on, the reaching out to old friends, his illness before the Atlanta show, his death on the plane, and his death two weeks later it's pretty apparent Prince was suffering from something.

If THAT is the case, He ALSO reached out 2 Andre Cymone in a similar way. Mending fences, maybe???
