He said he knew Prince was using painkillers? Do you have s link I'd like to read it. The only thing I was aware of was him talking about P having hip pain (and thus implying use of painkillers would have been for that reason). --- He said it in one of his interviews promoting his MJ book. I will have to go back and find it. I do know he was very adament that Prince used pain killers for pain not for recerational use he said that in Sway show. |

Chile, that's because it never happened. In her memoir she explains exactly how she became injured at that time, the collapsed lung, and the subsequent hospitalization & paralysis she suffered wherein she literally had to re-learn to eat and walk again.
Sheila shares that she has been a Hennesy drinker, but keeps it show because as a player she always had to be on her A game to be the best in the room- due to constant hazing and sexual harrassment as a young woman playing "men's instruments", and always having her abilities questioned by male peers. There is even an incident where takes it to an entirely new level by trying to look out for for a female friend ( Chaka Khan )one night, not above unleashing her temper on the person she figured out was supplying Chaka with drugs.
She has also pointed out that growing up in a house constantly filled with musicians in the 60s & 70s Bay Area music scene kept her wary of drugs, and there was a particular incident while she was touring as a teen in a nightmare trip Columbia (where cocaine was so cheap they passed it out like candy) that cured her pretty quickly of any curiosity she might have about going down that road. I'll leave that incident for those who haven't read the book yet. In addition to seeing so many musicians around her who imbibed (and having drug use affect their work) her wariness was also in part due to her Uncle "Coke" Escovedo, who, having been nicknamed so for obvious reasons, indulged in recreational drug use throughout his life and music career, and actually passed away from health complications associated with said use in 1986.
In the meantime, people stay making up shi*** on the Org...

I hear you. If people are gonna just throw out random stuff like that, then cite your source. As you can see when I asked for a source... [Edited 7/28/16 17:45pm]
I can even accept folks with stories having real life, living, breathing sources with a maximum of 2 degrees of personal separation but otherwise:

Good tip. I'm subscribed to Sway in the Morning on Youtube, but never got around to watching that interview: I think by the time it popped up in my Sub feed I was wiped out from all the Prince anecdotes from friends & loved ones (hammering home the fact that he has truly passed). I might be ready to check it out in the next few days, though now that you mention it. Thanks . |
