Vanity 6

From all of Prince's female side projects what other girl group has had such a lasting effect??? Nasty Girl was a huge R&B and dance hit..but it seems to have gone far beyond the hit single. They only had ONE album and look at the mark they left in (Prince's) musical history...let's celebrate the nasty girl trio!!!!!

Is it true that Manic Monday and The Glamorous Life were meant for V6?

Apples6 sang the demo for Manic Monday but Prince gave it to The Bangles and yes Glamorous Life was written for Vanity to sing nod

Other than a couple of songs from The Time, "Nasty Girl" and "The Glamorous Life" are the only Prince protege songs I can think of that still get airtime on classic R&B radio.

I just found this. Its Beyonce's younger sister, she's young....maybe 29 or 30, surprised she knows who Vanity was............she doesn't call her Denise so she may only have limited knowledge of her.

I know her sis is a fan:)

Love Sheila's version too. I heard V6's version of Sex Shooter and it was much more rock and roll/pop than the A6's version. More guitar (or what sounds like guitar) in it. I really like both versions, but maybe V6's would've crossed over more. What do you think?

What a nice read and so true every time I hear the begining of Nasty Girl I want to dance wherever I am it is a great song and Vanity was everything on that single- just everything. I know she renounced all things Vanity when she became a Christian but she really was everything as Vanity.

"So, yeah, Prince was kind of a perv." falloff Too funny!
I just recently saw Nasty Girl video again in a long time. Wasn't sure if I wanted to watch it or not as Denise renounced it and it made me feel kind of guilty being that she was a minister and all before she passed, but temptation won, lol. I loved that video so much. Even her dancing was on point. Girl could move... I wonder if Prince had a hand In the choreography?

I watched this interview when it first aired. After watching this interview i became very intriqued with her. At a young age, i was able to look into her eyes and see Vanity was just a character and not who she wanted to be.

I have to say, it wasn't right away for me, but once i got older i felt she was putting on an act even BEFORE i knew she became a christian i thought she wasn't herself...i also didn't know about the immense drug usage. These are the photos where i feel she was truly at her happiest and most herself, Denise.

I think she looks so pretty here, and happy too.

This is my avatar..she just looks so comfortable in her own skin here.

This photo looks like it was right after her conversion started.

She was lucky that depite her long time drug use that runined her kidneys and led to her early demise, that it didn't really affect her looks, even at the end. Some other people ain't so lucky.
