I always thought that guy was real cool. I mean, what function did he actually have besides hanging around looking badass in his wierd hat? He made me want to have some big dude just hanging out in a wierd hat on stage with my band. There's a rift out in space, and it could be the door, but you know I'm not sure. | |

but at first he was a friend of Princes' and he made him a "bodyguard" etc..and then he moved on up. He was in PR too for a hot second. Thats why Prince said in Hello "you call 'em bodyguards but I call em my friends..I guess Im used to havin them around"

Apparently the band couldn't stand Brooks and Wally being around due to their lack of ability and their disruptive ways on the road, womanising, drinking etc etc. I think it's Dr Fink who talks against them in one or two Prince books... | |

I heard that Wendy & Lisa were pissed at Prince for including them in the extended Revolution, because they were Prince's bodyguards and not musicians.
If Fink was pissed too, sounds like none of the band must have liked them. I think Prince always like to have some sort of "Buddy" on stage with him at times (like Brooks, Gameboyz, Kirky J, Larry) weather they had talent or not. Maybe Brooks wore that big, thick, heavy hat to sweat off some of that extra poundage he was carrying on him..
put THAT butter on your muffin. 
Of course it's not that I had to, but I never understood the purpose of having Greg & Wally on stage hamming it up & goofing off & occasionally mimicking some of P's dance steps.. THANK GOODNESS this "concept" didn't last too long. I'll see you tonight..
