PeteSilas said: dr. drew was trying to push the aids angle, said that stomach problems are common in hiv patients. Now, that is one that still has the stigma so i could see a coverup. then, prince, with all the makeup and stuff, automatically, the stupid will go "i knew he was gay" so i could see them covering that up. Perhaps, yet still unlikely. HIV infection is quite manageable today. He had a serious health condition that caused his death as concluded per the medical examiner. Isn't that enough? Why does there have to be more? I don't understand people's unwillingness to accept what he died from. Why does it matter? It takes nothing away. Not in my mind anyway. Or my heart. what was the serious health condition? it only said fentanyl overdose. i could take some of that and od right now and it wouldn't mean i had a health condition.

++ also, wouldn't that be a secondary cause of death? none was mentioned on the me report. --- The public only gets to see the short report. Only the family gets to see the long report. So we do not know what other health issues he had.

i had mentioned in another thread that there are was a place to put secondary causes and they were left blank. when my father died the official cause was cardiac arrest, but when the examiner opened him up they found that his pancreas was eaten up with cancer. his report stated:offcial cause = heart attack, secondary = pancreatic cancer. if he had cancer the examiner would have seen evidence and listed it,no? -- In Minn they only list the cause of death on the public report. The public does not get to see the full report.

I also saw that video clip. Dr. Drew also mentioned esophogeal cancer as a possibility. But you're right, many folks will focus on the AIDS angle. The cancer rumor is the one that naws at me, but like you said "why hide that?" Then again, Prince was a master of keeping secrets even in life for whatever reason. He was entitled to his privacy. However, in time, I do believe many things will come out.
In the meantime, prayerfully, Chaka, her sister and others will overcome this addiction. Unfortunately, Prince has lost his life.

C.K. has been in and out of rehab for decades now. She knows what to do. She will be fine. Celebs are in and out of rehab everyday. We just dont hear about it. According to Chaka's daughter, a recently fired employee leaked this story over the weekend. If it wasnt for that, we never would have known. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! There are unfortunately too many other threads to discuss the rumors of Prince's death, do we have to turn this into one also?

Stomach problems are common with lots of ailments, including opioid dependency. Dr. Drew was reaching.

I think this is a good thing. Thank God he didn't transition in California.

I agree. Still, his fams want to know. I guess it's human nature. Whatever the case, we will always love him and his musical/cultural legacy is unimpeachable.

Loss of privacy is the price one pays for celebrity. I'm glad that the family decided to share info with us after that moron leaked it to the tabloids. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I'm glad she did and hope she gets better soon. We should all commend her and her family for making this public, perhaps that way artists like herself can overcome the stigma and find themselves some help, cause they are, in fact, only human. The sooner we, as a society, begin easing on that pressure, the more people will seek help.

Answering to someone who wrote on the thread that's been locked: gollygirl said: I wish Prince had done that I wish her all the best. What is it with peope get so addicted to pain killers? It seems to be mostly an American thing? You don't hear much of it in Australia.....(maybe we are more highly regulated here?) I wonder the same thing. Seems that Somebody thought it could be a good business idea to give heroin a fancy Pharma name and make it legal for it to be sold? "No one plays the clarinet the way U play my heart"

I dont understand this either. No one in the family has called for justice, on behalf of Prince.

Glad to read Chaka will be back to recording and performing as part of her aftercare. I'm looking forward to hearing a new album from her. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I want to be positive, but I don't know....I feel some kinda funny way about this I do pray she gets better, tho. I'll try to stay positive (for a little while anyway). Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

She will be recording just to have all of it end up in the can per the usual. She is posting about her August tour schedule. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I am so happy to see this and hear that they are on the road to recovery. I am so sick of people being dismissed because they fell prey to chemical addiction at periods in their lives. This happy picture could have been Prince...if it had happened sooner. My...young relative fell prey to a prescription addiction a few years ago... Unfortunately, this could never have been Prince, imo. He was the epitome of perfection, in the sense that in our eyes he could do no wrong. Are you really imagining someone as private as him to expose himself like this? Surely not, and sadly that was his downfall. So glad Chaka Kan did this. These musicians that we admire and love are only human, after all, and if the general public begins seeing them and treating them that way, perhaps the media and particularly gossip rags, aka, the scum of the earth, will become out of business.

So, just like that, after just a few days in rehab, they have supposedly beaten their opioid addiction. Wow. Is this realistic?
