Based on what I've read about this drug, I just don't see how P continued to produce at such a high level. Wouldn't he have been nodding and sleeping all the time? Instead, he reportedly almost never slept. If I had to guess, I'd say that fentanyl was new to him.
It had to be something recent, otherwise he would have been dead or in rehab a long time ago.

that's what i don't get, drugs might help you write a few songs but eventually it'll screw you up. that's what I just don't get about the whole thing. Prince was so productive consistently. I don't get any of it. if he had cancer i hope someone comes out and tells it, it'll be so much more understandable. Prince was always so smart that i never saw him going out like that. it'll be a mystery for awhile, we don't have the whole story. give it time and people will begin to talk more and more.
I agree wholeheartedly. At this point, there's no way of knowing for sure, but that's exactly what I'm hearing from a pretty reliable source, supposedly diagnosed in 2014.

an illness would make sooooo much more sense - i hope someday we get the blanks filled in....

That also may explain why he looked swollen for some time. He may have been going through chemo.Chemo today has a steroid that causes you to look swollen in the face. In the past, people looked as if they were wasting away on chemo, but now it has the opposite effect because of the steroid.
It's says she and her sister both checked into rehab together for fentanyl addiction. Could they both have been suffering such extreme pain that they had to use this drug? People use this drug to get some type of euphoria which makes me question why Prince was actually using fenatayl. Most people assume he was in pain, but no one with first hand knowledge has ever confirmed this fact. Maybe he was using it recreationally. I've seen numerous documentaries on this drug and many users are not people suffering from pain.
- Quite a few people have said he had pain and said he had surgery but know people are going to think what they want until we medical records.

--/ Common sense would tell you that he had to be new to this stuff if you look at his productivity. You got over 100 people who interacted with him saying he demeanor never changed. They have no reason to lie they cannot be sued for defamation or libel. Where are the wild stories about drug use and parties? You hear nothing about any of this. Let's be honest he pissed plenty of people off so why are they not talking?
Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture!

-- I hope this person comes out and tells it. I hate to think such a smart person is being made out to be a druggie. People would understand if they knew he was pain.
the cancer thing would certainly makes sense around 2014 he looked hollowed out for a while that year. then he seemed himself again. but that leads me to the other thing about why not just make a simple statement and put it to bed. there is certainly more social stigma around drug usage/dependancy tan there is cancer diagnosis.

also, wouldn't that be a secondary cause of death? none was mentioned on the me report.

Based on what I've read and my own experience with opiods, for some people the drowsy effect wears off after a period of use and the opposite happens, you can't sleep. This is what happened to MJ and it's the reason that he was taking the propofal so he could sleep. In my personal experience, I've been on opiods after having surgery and after taking them for a few days, I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep for a few hours. If someone is on them long term, I would imagine that the effects would be worse.

No, because technically he died from an overdose that evening.

I have no personal point of reference, other than what I have read or watched; however, did you view the video attached to the Wall Street Journal article I posted above? The young man featured, addicted to fentanyl, was nodding to the point of sliding off his chair, just passed out. I don't know how long he has been using, or if that effect wears off after extended use, but this is no ordinary opioid. They say it is, what, 50 times more powerful than heroin? To me, that is mind-boggling.

i had mentioned in another thread that there are was a place to put secondary causes and they were left blank. when my father died the official cause was cardiac arrest, but when the examiner opened him up they found that his pancreas was eaten up with cancer. his report stated:offcial cause = heart attack, secondary = pancreatic cancer. if he had cancer the examiner would have seen evidence and listed it,no?
Yeah, Chaka Khan probably realized she wasn't making through her current tour high on this powerful shit.
The AP is reporting that she will be back in the studio by mid-July and back on tour by August 1. That seems very optimistic. I hope she takes enough time to really recover. I would think at least 6-8 weeks of in-patient treatment would be needed.

The M.E.'s public data form also had a line for "other significant conditions" that was left blank, so I will continue to believe that he had no other serious health problems.

Seen it, almost certainly. Listed it, on the public autopsy report, not necessarily.

Smart people can become addicted to drugs, too, especially if they began taking them for a legitimate medical reason. We know Prince had hip problems and surgery. Once the addiction switch is flipped in the brain, it is a life-long struggle to get off and stay off these drugs. It's a medical issue, not moral.

Death certificate and autopsy report are two very different things. We've only seen a death certificate. They don't have tolist contributing factors on there, but I bet if we saw the autopsy report there would be something there. From 2014 to 2016, Prince's appearance changed dramtically. Not to mention. something went VERY wrong in April 2016.

I mean, it's mid-July right now.
If that happens, she will relapse within a month or two. Recovery isn't that fast.

I just don't know, I don't get it. I've never drank alcohol because I've seen what it does, prince knew about elvis, who was a hero of his, he used to be antidrug. I just don't get it, i'm not saying it's a moral weakness as such, but I am saying this man, with a superhuman will and a lot more circumspect view of life (at least it seemed to me) than elvis and michael, I just really didn't think it would happen. I have taken medications before but never anything like an opioid, except for one time when i busted my knee, the other medications I have taken, I've never felt addicted to them. And things like alcohol i don't even fuck with and never will. It kills me to see my hero go like that. Just took the wind right out of my sails. so, as i say, i'd welcome a report of cancer or something.
If that happens, she will relapse within a month or two. Recovery isn't that fast.
My thoughts exactly. Plus, I just read that she was just in rehab for opioids in 2014. So, this is her second stint in two years. The longer, the better. She talks about her recovery on this episode of The Wendy Williams Show.
Good for chaka! Wish her a full recovery ❤
And come on, if Prince had a terminal illness i.e. cancer there is no good reason that wouldn't have come out by now. Why would family or friends with hold that information and not put all this drug talk to rest? They wouldn't. He died of an overdose. He was struggling with an addiction to narcotic pain medications. There is no shame in that! [Edited 7/10/16 23:27pm]
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

you don't think they would have listed it as a contributory factor if it was causing him the pain that he was trying to numb? I don't get it. They could be just covering up, that is possible. they covered up bruce lee's cause of death and they attempted to tell everyone that elvis had a heart attack but his fans demanded answers.

Nothing about his passing makes any sense to me, especially the apparent lack of an estate plan...but that's a whole other thread (right mods?).

his family hasn't said a thing one way or the other that I'm aware of. His friends wouldn't necessarily know. but whoever has the autopsy, probably tyka, knows everything. Damn Prince, i just still ain't over it.
dr. drew was trying to push the aids angle, said that stomach problems are common in hiv patients. Now, that is one that still has the stigma so i could see a coverup. then, prince, with all the makeup and stuff, automatically, the stupid will go "i knew he was gay" so i could see them covering that up.
