Chaka Khan Enters Rehab for Addiction to Prescription Pain Medication

Chaka Khan, a 10-time Grammy Award-winning artist, canceled her concert at the California State Fair two days before the show after announcing she entered into rehab for drug addiction, according to Cal Expo officials.

Fair officials received a message from Khan’s representative Saturday, stating that the singer was entering into an addiction rehabilitation and aftercare program for addiction to prescription pain medication, said Sabrina Rodriguez, a Cal Expo spokesman.

Poor woman has had a decades long battle with substance abuse. Very sad to see she has stumbled once again. Being an addict is rough but when they give an addict prescription drugs? Lord. I hope she'll get back on track again soon. Being 63 and struggling with addiction is no joke. Godspeed to Chaka.

I was thinking the same thing, after losing Prince she may have felt it was her ''wake up call'' i am happy for her, she's a great talent.

No one doesn't. Why does everything always have to come back to Larry Graham? Remember, Chaka Khan struggled with addiction long before her affiliation with Prince and LG. She was reportedly clean in recent years, but it seems that the threat of relapsing is ever present for addicts. I just pray that she can beat the monkey off her back, once and for all.

VERY close. It doesn't matter how often they saw or spoke to each other. They clearly LOVED each other, as she said in her statement on the day of his passing, wherein she called him her "brother." No doubt, this is a devastating loss for her. And, if she is like most of us here, who didn't even know him personally, she must be having a very, very difficult time absorbing this epic blow. In a statement released to The Associated Press Sunday, the 63-year-old Grammy-winning singer said she has been battling an addiction to the same medication that led to Prince's death.
