People bonding and supporting each other in the wake of a shared trauma and loss. Why not, if it helps the mourning and coping process? Reach out and love on each other. Nowhere is it written that one must grieve alone. butterfly

Agree. Mayte is a beautiful soul. A genuine sweet, real person.

I do appreciate Mayte opening Prince to the Arab world. That Middle-Eastern touch in his music, wardrobe, and accesories spreads the message to be more open to the Arab world which is much needed considering the issues occuring in the world nowadays. Just my opinion.

I'm sorry, but Maytes view of the Arab world is limited to belly dancing and sword balancing.
Baby, you're a star.

Meet me in another world, space and joy

nod i feel like prince helped me to look behind the news to the real middle east. thankful. cool

In a positive way smile Did you see the henna tatoo he had on one hand during an interview? Beautiful. He also mentioned how beautiful Marbella (Spanish town with Arabic architecture) was when he bought a house there. And much more....

Being an Arab myself, it was an attractive feature and again, I believe Mayte is who opened that gate.

This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.

You make a point smile I have yet to see her bring more than that.

Nonetheless, I appreciate her bringing at least that to Prince. I felt it led to his incorporation of that limited knowledge through his music, dancing, outfits, henna, ...thus making some appreciate the art to begin with and not just what is currently negatively portrayed in the news.

I'm an Arab myself (should post a picture one of these days) and I thought it was a draw.

cool i missed Prince's henna hand -- is that common for men to have henna tattoos? when i was in morocco in 2000, "the greatest romance" seemed to play on the radio there every hour smile then he filmed a video there a few years later. was his earliest use of Arab instruments in "Around the World in a day"? then "thunder" had a MiddleEastern riff in it. Cinnamon Girl smile Gamillah smile Amir smile I would like to know more purple Arabic connections you know of.

It is not common for men to have henna tatoos to the best of my knowledge but Prince liked to defy norms and cross gender barriers. It seems you know more than I do when it comes to his music and the Arabic feel to it however, I'm afraid I can't provide more response on that.

Manuela and I spoke briefly during the 2000 celebration (1st one I believe). She was very nice and interested to know where I was from. I can only recall a pleasant conversation until a technician broke us off.

Later on, I understood she was half-Italian from her father and half-Egyptian but Coptic descent meaning her mother was Eyptian but was not muslim (Christian, she was).

Thats an amazing mix, no wonder she was so exotic and beautiful!!!

I am Italian myself, both my parents were born and raised in Italy, not America....so thanx for that biggrin

I say Prince brought in diversity and helped some of us embrace it while living in foreign countries. Who else does that?.....

I'm sorry, but Maytes view of the Arab world is limited to belly dancing and sword balancing.

As evidenced by that dreadful 3 Chains of Gold movie where they carried on that ridiculous charade of her being a middle eastern princess, containing a scene of her in the desert where abovementioned princess talks to local yokels not in Arabic, but in German faint

lol lol I guess she needs to learn some more, huh.

Well, what I was trying to point out was how Prince incorporated the theme in his art as limited as their knowledge was.
