Sheila E's Girl Meets Boy

Is this supposed to be the great tribute track? I tried to like it but...

I agree. It's very bland and seems incredibly exploitative, IMHO.

That is what I thought too, but maybe she cannot do it any better. He wrote her Songs. I can still feel the notion. She loves him strongly. How could she not?

Sheila E. was videoed in the studio with Clare Fisher's son, Brent Fisher (who has taken over for his dad's orchestration efforts since Clare's passing). They're at Sunset Sound. At one point, Sheila mentions that her first session with Prince was in the studio across the hall, where they cut "Erotic City", and The Glamorous Life (in a week). Prince also rented the studio the interview takes place in, working on his own music, and they would go back and forth, doing music.

They were talking about "Girls Meets Boy". She mentioned writing it with her godson Mychael Gabriel. He's the guitarist in her band. He can be seen in the BET Tribute. Younger cat, darker skin, playing near her at times.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Emotion was missing. Not sure if she was holding back, but it was robotic. She needs to dig deeper and pull out everything she's feeling.

I'm quite sure none of us can judge what she's feeling or how she put that into song. I mean, I've not heard anyone on the org come up with anything.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Not trying to be mean, but I found this really lackluster and forgettable. I actually cringed listening to it, especially when she said, "I rocked your world." Um, OK. Like I said, not trying to be mean, but this felt like something she could have kept to herself. It felt kinda self-indulgent or something.

"Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

You honestly stated how you felt about the song so that's not being mean. Some people like it. Some don't. Nothing wrong with that
