Take Me With U: Sheila on Drums? Reading the Alan Light book Let's Go Crazy (great read btw!) and he says Sheila played drums.
Always thought it sounded like her to be honest, but she's not credited. Anyone know?

Princevault says Bobby: http://princevault.com/in..._Me_With_U I'm surprised by both ideas, I find the drumming style to be typically Prince (he had a very dinstinctive drums sound at the time) A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Hard to know what he sounded like as he had so much drum machine help on 1999 and Purple Rain tours. I did see him on the Controversy tour though Save America - Stop Illegal Immigration. God bless America. PEACE

not hard. He was on the Loring Park session with Prince & Andre, he was live with Prince since and on the 94East sessions 1977-1986. For U Prince Dirty Mind Controversy 1999 Purple Rain the 2-3 ATWIAD era shows Parade
Most off tour shows were straight drums.
During 1999 - Purple Rain Prince did want more of the drum machine sounds added. But that was only on some of the songs. Take Me With U was still performed fully by Bobby Z
I just listened to Prince and band opening for the Rolling Stones, Bobby Z is live and sharp. That show itself was sharp. [Edited 6/27/16 7:17am]

Stories always say Sheila came to "help" with Purple Rain. I used to think maybe she did incidental percussion during the movie of which there is a lot. But she wasn't credited. So when I read this it seemed to make sense. The rest of the book seems pretty accurate. Hmmmmm
