PrintableI think Mayte is the one. She made him a father. And he loved her so much to have a second child. Unfortunatly everything went wrong. I think, Mani was There, she helped prince to deal with his emotions. She was a fresh and great therapy for him. Mayte reminded him of his babies. And the fact that he could not have a family Life with her. But he loved Mani. She was new to him. Not musician, not dancer. She's vey much intellectual than others of his girlfriends. And she was a Jéhovah witnesses. Prince Turned into that after the Death of his child. That Also helped him a lot to deal with all his looses. But at the end, Mayte and the looses of his babies were the tragedy of his Life. He really changed after that. | |

I really don't know if he ever intended on marrying Mayte. Supposedly the baby was born 1 month early. I always had the feeling that she got pregnant first and then they hurried to get married. | |

You can see it in the pictures of them together making music onstage..I've never seen Shelia with any other man but P. To her he may have been a hard act to follow.....the late great Cynthia Robinson (trumpet for Sly & The Family Stone) was involved with Sly and they had a beautiful daughter together. She said that she had seen the women come and go with Sly, but at the end of the day that was still "her man". I think Shelia may have felt that way about P...she was there right when P was getting started in the late 70's...before Vanity and the rest of the ladies. I believe she mentions 1 other dude, a unknown, in her book. and she mentions a few before P, notably Carlos Santana. I do remember her doing an interview with Candy Dulfer,riding around in a car. Candy asked Sheila why she had never gotten married and had her own family. Sheila said she had been working through being molested as a child and that made relationships very difficult. I don't think that mayte was the love of his life at all. I think she was at a certain period of his life when he was trying to go the conventional route of wife and family. People like to hate on him and vanity but paint him and mayte as this forever in love couple. Errks no. The man annulled his marriage to mayte and kept his distance from her.... that should say something. He seems to have pined over the women who left HIM... vanity and manuela .. and manuela looks just like a young vanity... watching mayte in that show she seems wild and crazy and you have to ask yourself how stable she is when her parents basically traded her to Prince as a teen... she seems unstable .. Manuela was able to move on and have a family... mayte seems to thrive on being prince's ex with notk NH else to her name... well nowadays she'd got her pet rescue but besides that I can see her introducing herself in 40 years as prince's ex wife and mother of his son... like when do you begin to move on?? So no. I think he loved her but she wasn't the love of his life.. he loved her while he was with her.... and when he wasn't with her he was on to the next... | |
