Can we discuss the lady that is Prince's sister Tyka Nelson and have a decent discussion? For years I use to ask if anybody had ever seen a pic of Prince and his sister together? Nobody had em Now due to these tragic circumstances we have seen some. I have her cd and I actually like her voice and wonder why or if she ever recorded with her famous brother? Do you feel like Tyka has the strength to see this thing through? Im asking for your honest input about his sister and ask that we stay respectful in this discussion

BTW I thought that was sweet that she told the fans at PP that Prince loved them too...very touching.

I gotta be honest, before Prince passed I knew nothing about her. I've learned more about her in the past month than all the time before

I have no issues with Tyka's past...hell weve all done things to pay our bills and feed our families so Im gonna say as a woman shes been through some things and I can respect that. As far as Prince being an addict too I cant say that I truly believe that cuz I dont. But Im glad Prince had his sister working for him...its right.

Well I did know a lil about her but never thought I would learn more this way. I also wish her well.

Tyka not only lost her famous brother, she had to deal with considerable stress in the shocking aftermath of his passing, having to endure exploitative tabloid stories about the present, the future and the past. She is a survivor who deserves peace and quiet as well as respect and dignity.

She didn't ask to be dragged into this and was by all accounts in speaking terms with her brother despite their past feuds. I think it's beautiful they reconciled before he died. so many people are left with unresolved anger when someone dies before they have a chance to resolve bitter differences.

She has my respect (RESPEK ), just for the fact that she's not leaking info to the tabloids. It's obvious because they paint her in a bad light. If I had to guess most of the TMZ info is coming from the half-siblings and/ or their reps. I just think she's handled the situation with grace, which I would not have been capable of doing in her situation.

My only opinion of her is that she does love her brother, and she loves the fans. I believe she's having as hard of a time as anyone right now, if not more because she's his sister.

I have her album. I remember loving it back in the day when it came out (around 1988 or so?). I quite enjoyed it. a few years ago, I found it on vinyl, and own that now instead.

I'm not sure why people feel the need to talk about her like she's garbage. She's been through a lot of shit in her life, only the surface of which we might have an indication of, I'm sure. It's easy to sit and judge folk like that, and shame an addict or something with an affliction, instead of offering compassion and help. (not saying this thread is about that)

Prince's shit aside - as long as she lives her best life every day to be the best version of herself, that's all that matters.

I've always had a soft spot for Tyka. I had her album Royal Blue. "I just wanna spend some time with you and do all the things that lovers do...." I wore that song out!

She seems to be doing the best she can. God bless her and her family.

I never really felt any type of way about Tyka. I only have one question how close were they? I ask because there came point where he stopped talking and it was like she feel off the map. Plus after his conversion to JW, it takes work to keep family ties. Since she didn't go to the Kingdom Hall service, I take it that she was not a Witness.

I have relatives who are JW and there was a time when it was like walking on eggshells, you didn't want to offend but they have their beliefs which conflicted with everyone elses.

As for her past, from the things I have read here, she told it, not hiding from it. She was standing in her truth, I ain't mad at her. but that did make me give Prince a side eye. Which leads me back to the question-how close where they?

Nursev is hurting very badly that's all I see from her posts. About Tyka she's just Prince's sister. She may be nice but she has no idea about her brother at all.

The half-siblings know less about Prince than most of us. TMZ has other more connected sources that they go to when they need it.

I've been wondering about this, as I have only seen a few photos of them when they were very young, most with other family members. Have you seen pictures of them as adults, or teens even? Thanks in advance for your response.
